Handed in my 2 weeks for my current job. Was offered a temp job from my buddy's architecture firm in what I want to do.
Woo.
Leaving Japan tomorrow for 30 days in the states. This is happy shit.
Thanks man.
It actually turned out pretty well. Temp job is until we both leave for my buddies wedding at the end of August. When I get back in September, I'll be finishing off my associates certification. With his firms name on my resume, finding another more permanent job will be a cake walk. Excite.

No cavities at the dentist, 3 years running now *knock on wood*
Dentist anxiety to the point that I drove 40 miles in college to come back and see my normal dentist who does his best to minimize the anxiety and when I would have upcoming appointments as a kid I would contemplate intentionally breaking my arm or leg or something the day before to get out of the dentist appointment so no cavities is a huge ass win
So much this. I had an awesome pediatric dentist under my parents insurance but after my wisdom teeth surgery at 17 let myself Iapse due to various circumstances.
Due to no insurance as an adult I didn't see a dentist from about 1996-2009.
My husband convinced me, dragging and screaming to his dentist and assured me I would be happier for it. I definitely love our dentist and even had a root canal done on his day off that was completely painless, and he did an extraction too I didn't realize lol.
I dread the day he retires but finding someone awesome in medical, dentistry, etc is huge.
New video card and SSD. Ah my god everything is so fast and load times in game are so quick! Wheee
My PC choking on Landmark had me looking into upgrading mine, but in looking at probably $1000 or so for an i7, 16gb RAM, and a good SSD then other peripherals had me weeping a little. Only plus side is I can migrate my current vid card over and save myself about $200 when I can. So, color me jelly.
This talk about dentists reminded me of something, and I don't know if it's win or fail, but I don't know what fear of dentists feels like, since I've never had cavities or any other issues with my teeth. 24 years and still going strong, only things I've ever had to endure were braces and the removal of four wisdom teeth. Shouldn't have worn my best shirt for the latter, though.
I've had a couple of cavities, and I'm older than you are, but I don't fear dentists either. Most of the time, my greatest worry is that I'm going to fall asleep in the dentist's chair—and that includes the times when they're drilling away at my mouth. I find the seats rather comfortable. Everyone's fears certainly differ.
Definitely. My sister's had a lot of issues with her teeth and she's scared of a lot of things, but dentists have to be one of her worst fears. On one occasion, it got so bad that she punched the dentist in the face and ran away. Granted, she was maybe ten years old at the time, so it couldn't have been too bad for the dentist, but still, she's got to be one of the worst cases I know.
i don't really fear 'em, it's just the dentists i had for a long time were kind of dicks. treated me like an idiot child, etc. really pissed me off and made me reluctant to spend the energy on them.
guy i go to now is cool, his staff are cool, and his office manager also has crohn's. makes it much easier to build up the energy to go there when i actually enjoy their company.
If you've ever had any work done without being fully numb you'd understand.
I was five the first time I had a cavity drilled and filled, and they didn't have me completely numb before they started. Traumatized ever since. Even if that hadn't happened, the grinding of the drill is the most grating thing. Worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. They let you bring your music with you and wear headphones but it doesn't drown it out, even at maximum volume.
I'd really rather they pull my teeth than ever have to go through that drilling crap ever again.
I have, a few times. It takes like twice as much as normal and takes twice as long for it to take affect, so i wasn't fully numb a few times before they started working. It takes all of 1 second to realize and stop them. Definitely not fun, but not really a big deal. Or at least it wasn't for me.
