Rtings?
Also looking for something to take advantage of my recently upgraded PS4 pro if that has any influence on what I should be looking for.
Yes http://www.rtings.com/ that way you get a TV that has the specs you want for games.
Depends on where you're going.
If you're going somewhere to sit on a beach and do nothing? Yeah, it's fine to spend that much because you'll use the amenities quite a bit more, you will also likely get breakfast/dinner included so you are only out of pocket for one meal a day.
If you're going to a major city where you'll be out of the room most of the time? Any mid tier chain is fine. If I'm going somewhere like Tokyo or HKG, no need to ball out on rooms because I'll be travelling 75% of the time anyway.
I just booked a room in Gatlinburg Tennessee over Labor Day weekend. I try to do local places so we chose a local spot that had decent reviews. We're not concerned about the room really because we'll be outdoors the entire time. At least that's the plan. Our room is considered a suite and has a fireplace and Jacuzzi for $115 a night. We could've done a much better room or log cabin for $50-$75 a night more, but I'd rather spend that money doing fun stuff since the room is really just to sleep in and shower.
Noted for next time. We were going to do Myrtle Beach, but we both couldn't get enough time off to fully enjoy it since we'll be driving.
I did not know this! Oh well, it will still be fun to go to. I've never been and I've heard nothing but good about it.
Gatlinburg is fine. Some of it got torched but it didn't all burn down. I think a few houses and one skylift got roasted.
Gatlinburg is a kitschy tourist trap town nestled in an area full of natural beauty. It's mostly going to be families on vacation around you doing touristy stuff but I'd suggest escaping for a day just to drive around the Smoky Mountain areas for some beautiful scenery. And go visit Dollywood at least to say you did it.
My in-laws live in Gatlinburg so I visit the place all the time. Beautiful location but be forewarned, it is the worst traffic area I've ever experienced in my life. Park your vehicle when you get there and never get back in until it's time to leave. Especially on Labor Day weekend. This is coming from someone who grew up in NYC and currently works in DC.
Other than that though you have the right mind set. Everything is incredibly pristine. Tons of things to do outdoors so your room should be strictly for shitting, showering, shaving, and sexy time.
Think there was talk about those places with the huts on the water that are outrageously over expensive.
Ah makes sense. Yeah that's what I do generally anyways. No point breaking the bank if not going to spend that much time at the hotel... though that does mean a bit more spending outside of it.
worst person in our department, whose incompetence has caused me untold amounts of extra work and stress, quit today
