Food was a major contributor. She ended up dropping about 400 on that alone. Then there were the decorations etc. We were hosting it in the nearly finished game room so we also had to shell out for some barstools we had been eyeing up for additional seating etc. It was shocking how quickly the money was spent.

This is what I said to her repeatedly. She and I had it out one night last week because I told her cut the shit and tighten up on the spending. That is the exact argument I used. I told her from the start do cake and ice cream and be done. At least he got some pretty fucking cool toys that don't seem like they're going to annoy the shit out of me. And he ended up banking 1k for his savings account.

Had Noah's first birthday party today. Ugh. I told my wife to just rent a room at the local pizza joint but she insisted on having it here. A thousand(yes 1k) dollars later the party is over. Went well. I might have even enjoyed it had I not known how much we spent. But all in all the fuck ya part is that we managed to keep a small human alive for a year despite not knowing wtf we were doing lol.

I just..can't even fathom this. I'm not judging you but I just can't even imagine dropping that much on a kid's birthday..at all. I have zero maternal instincts though and don't see the point lol.
Granted when working at the hotel I saw some crazy shit including a 1 year old's birthday with 250 guests that ran upwards of 10k. I guess to each their own..? We just dropped 1900 on my new laptop and that was hard enough..LOL.

The average cost for a kids party will run you $2-300 these days. That's on the cheap end. The place I used to run was Laser Tag, so our averages were higher in general, but research when putting together marketing for the owner showed me costs are pretty much the same across the board. And parents pay it, without hesitation.

Always made me wonder how calm a mom is when I tell her that her sons party total was just shy of $800 and they can say charge my card without a hiccup or double take.

I am neither and I don't really see how what I said gives you that impression. I simply disagree with the attitude that you have towards the meaning of higher education and its purpose. Everything else I said was a response to some things that AidenCarby said that were gross misinterpretations of what I said or massive amounts of assumptions.

We do know people who go all out for kids bdays everyear. Cousin almost the same age as my daughter had a huge bday party for her first, too. She had reject Mickey and Minnie's that came to be with the kids and all.

I wouldn't be surprised if they spent like 1k easily.
