Nice! I love the bahamas, I'm always over by Nassau/Paradise Island though.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I recommend viva sometime. It's basically a private island. Last year we got a 5 hour private tour of the entire east side for 20 bucks total, or we went swimming with the dolphins for 80 bucks each(usually priced at 390 or something). The people are just amazing
I didn't ask my fiancee's parents.
Though her grandma had us married off two months after we started dating so there's that.
Idk why people "ask". The respect and courtesy of a heads up is nice, but if they said no would you have still done it?
I plan on telling my gfs parents I'm proposing to her before it happens, out of respect. But I ain't asking for no permission lol.
I still would have, yes. I didn't tell them either, but really what difference does it make. They're going to find out when they call anyway.
My dad knew cause he had the ring made (he's a jeweler) and one of my good friends knew I was going to at some point soon because we were drunk at the bar one late night. That's about it.
I asked my wife's brother before I proposed. He's been the father figure most of their life since their dad wasn't really around. We already had it planned and she even picked out the engagement ring she wanted, so it wasn't like his answer would have changed anything. Him and I are pretty good friends (was one of my groomsmen), so it was more of a respect thing.
I actually did. I laid out a trail of roses to our bedroom where she found me on one knee when she came home from work. The day before we got back from the city after buying the engagement ring and both wedding bands, and on the drive back she was pissy with me because I wouldn't let her wear the ring until I formally proposed. Shit wasn't a surprise by any means.

I personally wouldn't want someone to ask my parents before asking me. First, my parents and I aren't that close, and it stands to reason that my parents would also not be close with my significant other. Second, it's kind of like it undermines my ability to make my own decision in life. I'm in my mid-30s, I've made plenty of my own decisions in life, and I don't need or want someone to check with my parents beforehand like I'm incapable. If I were younger or closer to my family I might be less resistant to this, but really ... no.
You don't understand how I wouldn't want my boyfriend, who has never even met my father, who lives 1100 miles away and I'm not even close to anymore, to call up there and talk to someone he's never met or been introduced to? Honestly how awkward is that?
And no, I don't need a parental permission slip to get married. If other people want to do it, that's fine, but it isn't for me. I would personally not be okay with that. And I'm fairly certain that my boyfriend already knows this about me and thus would not go ask my father (or my mother, for that matter) if he wanted to marry me. He would simply ask me.
In fact, my ex-husband did exactly that and I resented him for it. Because I didn't ask him to talk to my family - and because he went into my phone while I was sleeping to get the numbers to call them! That's a huge violation and something I'm not okay with. Stop acting like I don't have reasons behind the way I feel about things.
