thought about it for Amsterdam and Nice but the deals I got were comparable to the apartments we liked and I am far more comfortable having a front desk and concierge in a country where I don't speak the language.

Along these lines, what airlines are people using these days?

I've always flown Delta or Continental (think it's United now). Looking at flights for the honeymoon these two airlines have at least 1 stop. Was hoping for nonstop. Jet Blue has one nonstop for cheaper than the other airlines. Is Jet Blue to be avoided at all costs?

I booked my trip on Priceline, but I'm flying with Edelweiss Air, with a day-long layover in Zurich. My boyfriend swears by Orbitz. I've also used Travelocity with some success.

It's a direct flight from Tampa to Zurich, which is nice, but sometimes it's worthwhile to look for prices from NYC or LA (whichever is closer to your destination) and then book the flight to NYC or LA separately. A flight to NY from Tampa is just under $200, so if you can get a great deal from NYC then you save money booking separate. Also, because my boyfriend doesn't fly coach for international flights, he can book coach for domestic and business class for international which also saves a good amount of money.

Basically, shop around. If you're not married to the idea of a particular location, you can get get good deals looking around. I priced a buttload of destinations. I also didn't mind the long layover because Zurich (even for a day) will be cool to see. Shopping around takes a bit longer but if you put the work in, you'll find something.

Well we live in NYC and we're going to Costa Rica as the first leg of the honeymoon so the locations are generally set. We can do Newark, La Guardia, or JFK as far as airports around us, but the one closest to our hotel is Liberia, Costa Rica.

Was more curious about airlines themselves. Generally even those search sites come up with the same deals as you would going to each individual airline's site. They just compile it to make it easy to search for.

had great luck bouncing around between Kayak and Hipmunk. They have the same deals for the most part but kayak will show you that off the wall Turkish air flight that is half the price of everything else but comes with a 15 hour layover in Istanbul. Idk if that is your cup of tea since you are going to South America to get decapitated.

First you should subscribe to places with travel tour deals like travel zoo and groupon and shit. I'm sure they have a variety of South American packages. If you want to set your own itinerary you can use the vacation builder on gate1travel.com, this is nice cuz you can add flights to it. they also have South American travel packages if you don't want to create your own bullshit.

idk why you would go there tho. They are going to rob and kill you and steal your fresh ass nike dunks.

I just piecemealed our trip using various travel sites. Also Marriott will price match a travel site and then take 25% off on top of that so that could be something to keep in the back of your mind.

    Hahaha!

Skipping South America, staying in Central America. Although they will still steal my Dunks I'm sure.

Looking for flights now I found a steal at $206/person one way to Costa Rica nonstop. The other flights are 250/person+ with 1-2 stops. Trying to figure out why the price is so low, thinking it's because Jet Blue has a bad rep now.

I've got the itinerary figured out for the most part. Fly to Costa Rica > Ziplining, Hiking, other outdoorsy BS > fly to Mexico > get drunk off my ass at the pool/beach, some snorkeling, whatever else we feel like. Just have to find those flights. Looks like they don't have all the options for flights fleshed out yet as all I can see for flights going from Costa Rica Int'l to Cancun Int'l are 2 stops going back to FL/NY and then back down to Mexico. Current flights are mostly 1 stop somewhere in the southwest (Texas and other such places).

Places to stay were both timeshares. Cost $500 combined for a week at each place. Flights and food are going to be the real $$$ on this trip. Looks like the flight from Costa Rica to Mexico is going to be $800/person, 8+ hrs long to go a shorter distance than NY to FL.

flight prices change daily and in my dealings I have found Tuesday to be the cheapest day of the week. It also depends on how far out the flight is of course. There is a sweet spot to be had with domestic and international. Anyway if you are seeing it for 250 now you should jump on it because it is sure to change tomorrow.

Yeah, I hopped on it. $420 for both tickets, non-stop. 5:45 flight time compared to 8-9 hrs with 1 stop. If the seats are shitty I'll deal with it for 3 hours less time and less money spent.

Jet Blue is great. I spent a month flying all over the US/PR/Costa Rica with them for $700 total back in '08.

you might save some loot if you try to do it all at once. NY - Costa Rica - Mexico - NY. Google flights can do multi city seaches which should give you an idea.

Does this link work for you? Just plug in the dates https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...015-03-19;tt=m

I tried that. All the flights from Costa Rica to Mexico are 2 stops and 20hrs. Going to keep an eye out for a while.

    Thanks for the link, though.
