finished my bomb lab today! it's a lab for machine architecture that involves reverse-engineering six phases of assembly code and coming up with six separate pass phrases to defuse a bomb. if you enter the wrong pass phrase, the bomb explodes and you lose a point from your grade.
got 68/70, which wasn't difficult - the debugger EASILY allows you to stop executing before the bomb explodes, and I only lost points because of early morning tired brain entering the wrong commands - but anyone who has learned assembly can tell you it's still a bit of a challenge to read, and certainly intimidating the first time around.
very proud of myself. I have a solid A in this class so far, and it's one of the more difficult classes in my major.
My buddy has been working in Dubai for the last 6 months. As a result he ended up clearing an extra 20k in salary. He bought a new iPad and gave me his old iPad mini so I could play Call of Duty Heroes with him. That was pretty fucking cool.
Costco's food court now takes debit cards.
Win for us all.

With four of us, dinner came to 10 bucks. Can't hate on Costco.
Their berry smoothie is yummy. I get it every time I go to costco.
i miss costco
Fun fact, you don't have to be a CostCo member to shop in their liquor store.
oh shit
It varies by state, because laws.
Costco in Utah can't have liquor stores because only the state can run a liquor store. Alcohol in Utah is my FWP. If you want anything stronger than 3.2% beer, you have to use a state liquor store, with limited hours, closed on holidays, the works.
Religious states are dumb. I remember a few years ago visiting my brother at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, wife and I flew, dad and his gf drove as they were making a road trip out of it and my brother asked my dad to stop in Texas to pick up a couple of cases of beer due to alcohol % being weaker in Oklahoma.
Pennsylvania isn't a religious state but you still have to go either to a beer distributor or a liquor store for alcohol, and they can't sell it on Sundays. I think some bars and most restaurants can, but the bars have to have a certain amount of food on their menu. PA was trying to get on board with the convenience store and grocery store thing, but my dad was telling me that a lot of these business owners would be fucked over by it so there was a lot of resistance to it. I don't know, I haven't lived there in years, but I actually forget that I can't just walk into a gas station and get a six pack because nowadays that's so foreign to me.
