Some of my retainers aren't geared enough yet for the highest level exploration, so I sent them out for a Gysahl Ring. 1/1, fuck yeah.

Which has me wondering what other items they can bring from the other ones. I'd imagine most people never really do them, but in the case of the ring there might be other items unique to certain exploration levels.

WTF? Sounds like an exact copy of phoenix down, but then why make a seperate item? xivdb had no info on it either in what it does or other places to get it.

It was from 1.0; you can't get it anymore but you bought it with seals. I remember using it in Ifrit-X way back when since you could use them in battle. There was one w/ a guaranteed raise and one w/ a less than 100% chance.

Still cant use any raise items in battle so really kills the usefulness of these. Might be good when they release those open world dungeons?

Only situation I can think if in battle is if 2 people die, 1 gets raised then uses it on the other before being on hate list.

Rocl got it, it's identical to a Phoenix down. There's a reason why Phoenix downs a so cheap on the markets, despite only coming from a select few quests. They're dumb.

You can get a yay or nay to that when I find a place to use it. Wonder if it counts towards the "raising people outside your party" achievement...

I witnessed a pheonix down actually being used in CT that saved the raid from a wipe. It was the second area, atmos spawned a Diva which fire II'd team B and was not stunned. That plus some more raid damage wiped the healers leaving a blm and two tanks left as they finished atmos but not having enough people to activate the panel. After about a minute of sitting there thinking about what to do the BLM used a Phx down to res a healer and activate the panel :D

Considering you're in combat during all of Atomos, I don't see how that would have been possible.

Unrelated:

Do we know what the differences are between Field/Mountain/Forest/Waterside explorations? Do they have different "special item" loot pools?
