Is this seriously their way of nerfing speedruns?

Is this seriously their way of nerfing speedruns?
..................lol
I can see it now:
(enter ST, clear first trash room)
Person: Alright everyone, get in a line, set the person in front of you on follow, and afk for 20 minutes to build up light
(leader activates macro to run in circles for 20 minutes)
Speed might not have anything to do with it, when I posted early this morning newborn star I ran ST in about 30 mins, no wipes
still cant tell if dragging longer = more worth it
for now, it seems like if you got into a shit PT, you still get equally paid off with more time spend in dungeon/raids than people who sped through 2 of the same instance
ie, speeding through 2 19 min ST with 2 blinding may still be worth more than a 30 min ST with newborn. but being stuck in a shitty raid may still come out with max lights making the time spend still "worthwhile"
cant tell still we find out the counts for each light i guess
btw, saw a JP blog about them spamming 40 titan EX, and each only gives gentle light and still no change on inspection
we're still unsure how these lights even work. until we have a firm grasp on what they do to influence the... "glazing" (seriously?) then it's all really just conjecture.
t5 got us bright and t3 northing
This isn't something like...
Only one of the x amount of ways to get light gives you Newborn. So everyone has to try different dungeons, trials, maps, raids, etc... in order to find the one that gives Newborn on that day? I was hearing lots of people were getting Newborn in ST before the JP midnight rollover. Has it moved to a different trial? I guess that doesn't really make sense tohugh why there would be other forms of light?
CM run 2/5 in progress brilliant
anyone try frontlines yet? lol
not really.
according to patch notes, and findings we have seen from peeps
this basically means an activity only gives a certain amount, example fates/low lvl trials like westwind/chimaera will only give feeble when u enter/start and kill it immediately. (i just did the chimaera fate in north thanalan with only 8 mins remaining and we killed it, still only give feeble)A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes.
However, if the said activity is "dragged" for a certain period of time, you get better lights = more amount. example we have peeps doing sycus in 30 mins or more and get newborn, as compared to a usual semi-fast runs resulting in only blinding.
Some dungeons also takes longer compared to similar tiered, example we have people getting bright in tam tara and people getting brilliant from hullbreaker/stone vigils.
this + referencing patch notes prolly meant the above after we understand a little, however the main problem is how much do we need for a "progress"
i done 11 ST now with all blinding, about 20 odd fates in between all the ST queue time with only feeble, and 1 expert with brillant w/o change :X
still not even a day so im not gotta start complaining how long it will take since books costed 13500 mytho, alex costed 40-50k mytho (before hunts) with dailies and this prolly will need 1 week or so to complete
joining in progress runs also seem to get a different evaluation
ruda ex = bright and titan ex = brilliant
ifrit x bright too
Have you guys though that the lights could just be a Number like Newborn 1 Feeble 2 Bright 3
And you just add them up until a certain number (exemple 5000)
Someone is saying on reddit that the image of your relic when you use the glass visually represents your progress, seems like bs to me.
Oh trust me a lot of stuff seems like bs to me in the game, hence why I at least shared the theory.
On my faster run (fast enough amon? with the disks never got to the platform phase) and did under like 30min I think ST, got newborn star. My slower run of ST got brilliant.
SCH nexus
STx2 - Brilliant
Mog Hm - Bright
Toadskin - nothing
Expert - Brilliant
Honestly will this ever mean anything? I hope there is a lot of people documenting their exact road to a reaction, otherwise its just jibberish
