I spent a RL year camping KV for Ace's. Definitely could spawn out of sight but rarely. That mob can DIAF.

Because there was a version that had time. So iirc Aces had a different Pop timer depending if you missed the weather of if it was killed

So iirc, You had the time it depoped/killed and the color was Purple Killed Red Depoped

So if you fell asleep or something you could continue getting TOD

It could only pop during weather, not at any other time. If you kept getting single weathers(50% chance of pop at start of weather, no pop in between.) It could do this for as long as it wanted, the only 100% spawn at the start of the weather the moment the icons rolled up on your screen is during double earth weather. I have this condition burned into my mind because this fucker went 38 hours after the window opened for mine, while everyone else that I went and camped and killed for took about 6 hours to do.

Ace's was out WAY before Askar. It was just super rare. I had the 2nd Ace's helm on the server and the rumor was the first was bought from RMT hack killing KV. Plus ACC was hard to cap back then when eating RCB.

Earlier. Turban was introduced on TOAU release afaik but people didn't figure out how to get it for a while?

Eh, I guess the first reports of Turban came out like ~10 days after TOAU release. Anyways coins didn't take that much time to get because it was Imperial Standing which you got through killing shit.

Though I can't remember the the early camps in TOAU, I figure ~15-18k/hr is a good estimate, so like 13 hr of merits

I reiterate that I hate all of you tho

Haste+5% hardly beats the STR+5 that the wyrm helm has for melee (it also has HP+30). Nor does it beat the Kaiser or Koenig helm for PLD tanks or the Yasah headpiece for NIN (that even seems better with Enmity+ and spell interruption rate down and INT+ for their ninjutsu) tanks. For mages.. Zenith seems far better for a few jobs or their AF2. This piece of headgear seems like it's not worth the trouble.

Yeah took a week or so to get it once it was found and it was BiS TP for a lot of jobs for a very long time. I'm pretty sure Askar/Ace's was reserved for Apoc DRKs for a long time.
