probably gonna start fating up for my second weapon. anyone know what the best and most cost effective battle gear might be for spiritbond?
Depends on what you're going for...? I suited up in a bunch of DoL shit to get some DoL materia, but it's difficult to solo FATEs in gear that doesn't have any stats on it. It's also worth noting that you're not going to get any spiritbond unless you're doing FATEs close-to or above the level of the gear you're bonding, so don't even bother in Middle La Noscea and the like.
ah good point about lower level fates. does SB speed change from gear at lvl 49 compared to 50?
Do you mean if the gear is lv49, or the FATE level cap is 49?
If the gear is 49, it should bind a wee bit faster than gear at 50. Note that bind speed seems to be relative to iLevel, not level, so i55 stuff binds way slower than 50-and-under stuff. i70 stuff may not get any bind at all in any FATEs, I dunno. i90 stuff certainly doesn't get any.
If the FATE is 49... I dunno? I imagine your level doesn't affect the bind rate, and it'll just be the usual calculation as if you were 50.
Don't you have to get claim on the monsters(thus earning exp) to gain spirit bond? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Nah, as long as you touch them you can get SB. I know if I hit someone else's mob my choco gets exp and I get SB. idk if it's at a lower rate or not though
I haven't really thought about that before, but my guess is that you have to do whatever qualifies you to earn exp. That means you can either claim the monsters, or just do enough damage for the game to give you credit for the kill (damage worth roughly 20% or more of the mob's HP).
Since this is on the topic of FATEs, I will mention that FATE bosses don't give much, if any, more exp/spiritbond than your average monster of the same level. The trash-mob FATEs are worth a lot more when it comes to spiritbonding.
Makes sense, 20% seems a bit high though. There was a couple times I would be randomly afk and come back and swift holy and get credit for all
Eh, it's just an eyeballed guess. I don't really care enough to find out the exact number. FATEs may work differently (I was basing off my experience with quest mobs / atma kill mobs / etc.).
The level of the mob vs. the iLvl of the gear is what determines SB speed, along with the normal "kill" requirements of whatever % damage or claiming.
I fully SB'd 2-3 sets of crafting gear doing this while farming Atma. The lower the FATE though, the slower it'll be. At a certain point (seems like around 10-15 levels difference) you stop gaining SB entirely. You can't do level 25 FATE's and SB iLvl 45 gear, even though you're synced.
Anything special you have to do for second animas? I spent the myth for my summoner zenith and 6 hours later no atma. If its bad luck thats fine, just wanna make sure i didn't have to trigger something.
Edit: derp, next fate after this drops atma. At least confirmation nothing special to start second weapon.
yup, you just need a zenith on and you get atma up your next weapon. Personally holding off using any myth toward books for now and just earning gil as I await the changes in 2.28/2.3 on myth obtaining changes (most likely waiting for 2.3 because if its like 2.1 200philo per run, it'll be worth it)
Here is where I am at.
My group just downed t8 our first time yesterday... but I will be last dps to get a sand so the soonest I can get an i110 weapon that way is june 10th.
I was first going to be whm for coil and I spent sol on it, but shit happened and I became blm and got animas for it, then shit happened again and I became smn but thankfully I got a mirror for it.
If I get lucky and the patch drops soon and I can get 110 weapon from that and potentially save 1300 sol on smn book and use my sand for a piece of gear lol.
idk
That's the problem with all the gear caps.
The game promotes playing lots of jobs then funnels your choices into gearing one maybe two of them.
When the game came out it was promotes that you can play all the jobs on one account. Lol guess it's not a lie, but gl doing anything worthwhile with your 3/4 jobs
Promote playing multi-jobs by forcing you to level up most of them to be polyvalent (I.e Lancer to 34-36 for B4B) etc, as its a bit silly to just leave it at that Lv or you may even like the job you're leveling.
Restricting the choice of playable jobs by putting weekly cap such as Soldiery Tomes/Coil lockout/CT Gear-lock/Myths cost when you're building an animus weapon.
Leaving you to either do like a friend of mine and ignoring the whole Atma/Animus bullshit to gear up all your job to iLv90+ with Myths/Coil v1 or to do like me, focusing on your main job and its animus.
