The bonus stats thing is kinda outside of the problem Taint is trying to explain. That'll probably get fixed soon enough anyways.
The game promotes you for playing multiple jobs due to the cross class skills you can gain. In fact, you're considered gimp without specific cross class abilities (E4E, B4B, SS). The game however holds you back from gearing more than 2 jobs post 50 due to the weekly lockout. The current trend is usually having one class get geared through tomes and the other through T6-9. Also by getting unwanted items.
Hopefully when the expansion drops it increases the breadth of content available to get gear at least.
As far as I'm concerned the game promotes playing multiple classes because if you didn't everyone would be even more fucking bored than they are now.
epic rpg, YOU HAVE THE POWER TO PICK ONE JOB TO SUCK AT INHERENTLY FOR NO MEANINGFUL REASON
nothing else really makes sense to branch diametrically opposed jobs off of a class, this game isnt complex enough stat wise to have anything else make sense ie thief will obviously use str since str is the catch all for meleeing and not dex, any ranged class branching off archer will use dex any tank jobs obviously can benefit from str or vit but that is semi legit reasoning
sch and smn though, what dipshit thought this was a cool idea

I am going to throw up.A21: You will be able to trade-in allied marks (points obtained by defeating marks) for items such as armor that is currently traded for Mythology tomestones, unique items that can only be obtained from this content, and alexandrites which is required for upgrading your Animus weapon into a Novus weapon.
Yo dawg, we heard you liked currency, so we made a currency you buy with currency so you can grind while you grind.
obscure FATEs probably being Odin and Behemoth in SE language
This is literally what everyone asked for when they bitched about Atmas.
Bwaahahahahahahahahah. At least it will never be as hard or take as long as mythic weapons. I feel like the cable company providers from south park every time anybody complains about animus/etc.alexandrites
Nor should they. It seems consistent with their design philosophy since FFXI. As players, we all have the option to play, level, and gear up as many classes as we'd like on a single character. In return, the game design only allows us to specialize in a handful of classes. In theory, SE seeks to grant minor advantages to those those who specialize in a certain class over those for whom said class is merely one in a stable of max-level classes.
That's the theory, though. In practice, gear acquisition and talent can easily overcome these minor advantages. But, these minor advantages can also bolster the geared, talented specialist even further towards the exceptional in their favored class.
Baloney. That "can only specialize in one job" design is completely arbitrary and doesn't exist for any good reason. They may have a reason and thought it was good, but they were wrong and it only holds back the game's potential. My best guess is it's a "we had to come up with something" attempt to provide some character customization, but the whole premise is such a low priority to SE that no one cares because it's done so why think about it.
Actually, it probably has to something do with the fact that you get "2 jobs for leveling once"...even though leveling has been trivialized. Well, it gives us one less atma weapon to grind for...yeah it's a stretch to bring this back on topic so I'm going to shut up now.
Much as this questline is boring me silly, I promised myself I would jump on it when it first came out so that years later I wouldn't feel like the whole thing was impossible (see: FFXI Mythics). I'm just glad that these weapons are not the ONLY option.
Ugh, Bravura Animus finally done. Pretty satisfying to get that glow but certainly NEVER EVER AGAIN.
Not sure what I'm going to do with myself now, this has been taking up just about all my in game time. Maybe time for some serious attempts at T6 or Moogle Ex. On the plus side only a couple of days to go until the next upgrade, pretty good timing really. Thanks Yoshi for considering me with this patch schedule... : P
