Did you try Grade 2 with 2 alexandrite on you?

I wonder how they split the reqs for Curtana and the Shield this time. I should have called out of work today.

2 ink for sword, 1 for shield

75 split between the 2 scrolls (I believe its 23/52)

It's hard to describe.. but the way the UI works is it will say "invalid grade of materia selected" if you try to pick a grade 2 or higher materia.

If you select grade 1 materia when you don't have any alex it will say that you don't have sufficient alex.

No. You won't get quest to start novus until you're done with sword and shield, someone already tried this, so you won't be able to get scrolls or even start getting alex..

However, it might be possible to start on a scroll for the shield if you had already completed a different animus IDK about that. I imagine you'd have to trade in both scrolls and sword/shield at the same time to actually get the upgrade.

Also, any PLD who was as foolish as me and thought they would be able to start the Novus quest after they've finished their shield and are still working on the sword (or vice versa) will be disappointed to know that, sadly, PLD does not get special treatment and MUST complete both to begin it.

Huh. Good to know I guess. I remember some folks from the PLD thread mentioning they were going to just Animus a shield up since it's relatively quick and easy. Guess anyone who did that's stuck doing the work or waiting on Noct/HA.

SB is based on EXP, right? Is there anything to stop someone from just wearing lv30 equipment and looking for a bunch of Tier1/2s while speeding through on account of the huge level disparity?

My experience is that it's based on mob level. lv30 gear for lv30 mobs, etc.

It would be a pain in the ass but one could always just assemble 4 different gear sets, lvl 15, lvl 25, lvl 35 and lvl 45 gear, and swap them around while doing FATE runs.

No I think you are right, when I go SB farming and equip lower level trash just to clear it out of inventory it SB's much faster than lvl 45-50 stuff.

It's based on iLv of the item VS Mob level. I spiritbind iLv30 equipment faster than iLv45 killing Lv 48 mobs. I would assume running T3 will give better results since mobs are higher level.
