Quick question de they Novus stage give any weapob dmg increase from animus?

Has anyone figured out if you need Gold to get the Alex or not? I got one from FATE but I got gold. Wanna know if we can tag and run!

Suppose that you end up having to infuse higher tier materia as you go on, as many people suspect. This may mean that you can have a situation where you avoid having to use tier 4 materias for the secondary stat.

For example, a BLM opting to upgrade SpS to 44 and Crit to 31. Since Crit's materia tier progression can scale up to 44, the first 31 upgrades might not involve a Savage Aim IV.

If that's true, I'm almost tempted to do a Crit/Det/Acc split for mine and avoid tier IV materia entirely. (But I'm sure I'll talk myself out of such nonsense by the time I actually have to make the choice.)

Mor Dhona. Acquiring Alexandrite isn't limited to the zones where Atma drops it seems.

I think you'd have to be insane to expect the Novus weapon to not receive the damage increase... The only reason the Atma one didn't get a damage increase was because the upgrade wasn't complete.

Yeah, the only reason why Atma weapons are i100 at all is because their stats grow bit by bit as books are done, so their item level has to be high enough to accommodate the increases.

Since Novus is done all in one go, there's no need for an intermediate level like there was with Atma > Animus.

Im curious about all the rage they must be getting about this. complaints have to be 1000x worse then the first stage. the materia inclusion is just awful

You can split stats more then 2 ways? That's pretty awesome IMO.

A quick summary of data mined info, I've seen none of this posted here yet surprisingly enough so here you go:

Quest starts at Jalzahn, you have to go talk to the materia people in Central Thanalan. You have to buy 3 Superior Enchanted Inks from Rowena for Allagan Tomestones of Mythology to obtain your Sphere Scroll. Sphere Scroll has to melded to the stats you want on your Relic Novus, up to 75 secondary points in total have to melded before you can obtain your novus. To meld to the sphere scroll you need to get Alexandrite, which can be obtained from

1) Allagan Tomestones of Mythology, buying Mysterious Maps from Rowena and completing them gives Alexandrite
2) Completing FATEs with Animus Equipped

Sphere Scroll melds CAN fail, they start with 100% success rate but will drop as you meld more materia. Once you have melded all the stats you can hand over Animus and Scroll to obtain your Novus.

Both the roulettes and treasure hunts can be done with any weapon for anyone wondering. I just got my alex without my animus equipped.

I am not liking this at all so far.

I finally got my scroll after myth farming all day and then did the daily to get the map. Went as BLM since I wasn't sure if we had to go on the job with the weapon we're upgrading. My map gave me Morbol Menace as mentioned earlier in this thread. He bound me 4 times and used Bad Breath on me each time before I died. I had 1 minute left and it was at ~15% HP. I tried aggroing a Wind Sprite close by (was in Costa del Sol) to break bind, but it kept missing me.

So not only can the materia infusion fail and we only get 1 sure Alexandrite per day (unless you farm 800 myth every day) but we can randomly get terrible maps that can make us lose our daily Alexandrite? Fuck. This. I will never go alone for these maps now. I still don't even know if I have to go on BLM; the Morbol had the Zodiac sign above it's head like the mobs did in the Animus books indicating that it's a possibility.

Isn't this supposed to be the casual way to progress?

Edit: Read Foxer's post above. Maybe SMN can solo some of these then since we can do them as any job. But I don't want to risk it anymore. Will always bring someone with me now.

I guess we have different definitions of casual then. I find EX primals more casual than this upgrade system.
