Come on now. We know we aren't getting the Novus for the damage and the stats! It's for that glow!

On the one hand I agree with SE making Relics difficult (They should be whats the point of doing any game if its not a challenge, and rpgs in general are all about grind) They cant make it more powerful than High allagan else wtf would be the point of coils? So what is this? It is a weapon that is hard to get by grinding, but still accessible enough for those who either don't have coils groups, or their groups only raid once a week, and don't get enough time in to master the mechanics. So getting a weapon like this helps them squeeze out a little extra to get through content. Me personally I have lots of in game time since I am retired, and get to enjoy it. However the people in my raid group have limited time when we are all available on a weekly basis to work on coils. So I get novus it helps dps and we get further. I do however feel like endgame is severely lacking in this game. . . . There is only one endgame area? wtf is that?? There needs to be more endgame options, and hopefully with time there will be. In FFXI we had dynamis, sky, salvage, sea, einherjar, all before abyssea even came out, and all with great gear options.
P.S. For those who say ditch your coil group if their schedule holds you back. Fuck that. . . Id rather be a noob with sub par gear then a douche bag. . . seriously does anyone look up to elitest assholes?
I think I'm just going to casual this up. The roulette will serve for my daily Soldiery income too. I've no use for an i110 weapon until I'm in a decent Coil 2 group, and if I'm in a decent Coil 2 group I'd expect to have an i110 or i115 weapon within a couple of months anyway. These weapons are pointless for anyone not raiding at the top end and they're pointless for anyone who is, I don't see who they're for.
Was anyone able to test two people with animus in same pt doing maps for me?
Or, if your like many and never saw the light of day of a coil wep even with clearing. 6+ monk hands 3+ blm. I mean you act like RNG are always going to give your main job the wep it wants. And this only counts if you are clearing t9 each and every week. Maybe just maybe its not worth your time, but some groups need that little extra dps or might be working their way up to t9 and might not clear it before 2.3 and even if you do, luck must be on your side for the weapon you want to drop.
Still for the amount of work you need to put in to get this it should be equal to a t9 drop at least. Idc if its easy or not you are putting in a crazy amount of time. Personally I wish they would of made it need shit from coil 1/2 and made it as strong if not stronger then coils wep. Cut the fucking fates and add a drop to turn 7/8(rare) and 100% from turn 9 that gives you the final stage and equal if not stronger then high allagan.
Yeah, just finished skimming the thread and was coming to report in.
Myself and two friends did our maps all together, all with Animus equipped and only the map holder got an alexandrite. Furthermore, it split the gil down to 463 a person. Still worth teaming up for the security: We saw two ogres that ran super fucking fast around and spammed their conal, we saw the giant golem that summons like, 8 sea puks at a time and saw the morbol that caused me to panic and keep stun locked. Easy fights in a team, but alex is still one per, only for map holder.
Edit: 3 of us wielding animus, 4 people total. Split the 1600~ gil four ways.
The T9 weapon is RNG yeah, but the i110 weapon isn't and if your group is decent everyone should have one of those after 8 weeks. Less because it's unlikely those who do get lucky in T9 will be claiming the drop for the i110 weapon. These Novus weapons are on par with the i110 weapons so it's not unreasonable to factor those in.
I agree with your second paragraph, it should definitely be on par with the T9 weapon or maybe even better. It shouldn't feel like a complete waste of time to spend 100+ hours on this and then finally get your T9 weapon (RNG will give you it 2 days before you finish your Novus, you just know it) and have all that effort go to waste.
If they want relics to be so time consuming to get they should at least make it the best weapon. The ultimate reward from T9 could have been i115 body slot armour instead.
I don't think relic weapons should be on the same tier as Coil (or whatever top tier endgame). The relic weapon doesn't have to have poverty stats, but it shouldn't be Coil tier either. That just shits on the efforts of people who put in the time and effort to beat all of the turns and obtain best weapons. It's their "ultimate reward" for all of their efforts. Relic should always be one step behind -- at the end of the day, it's just a simple, but extended grind. Yes, the grind is getting longer, however you still have other options as well (work on getting to T9, work on Levi/mirrors, work on T7/T8 for a Gerolt weapon).
No one from SE is forcing anyone to continue the Relic questline. I believe people simply came into the mindset that because of ver. 2.0~2.2, they could continue to handout relic upgrades easy. If you came from FFXI with this mindset, you should be ashamed of thinking so as well (if you obtained or attempted Relic, Mythic, Trial of the Magians weapons).
Dunno if it's been said already, but can you do your maps on a different job completely and still get the alexandrite? I'd much rather run them on WAR than DRG but I don't wanna risk it ~_~ Same goes for the Roulette to get the map.
Confirming can do on a different job, smn as well because of that i110 dmg D: and thank you for testing out multiple animus in pt
What makes your time and effort into beating T9 any different to people putting time and effort into obtaining their relic? If anything you're putting much less time and effort into a T9 weapon since I doubt it takes 100+ hours to learn T9. You don't need to beat all the turns either, I've never beaten T6-8 yet I have progressed to phase 2 in T9 in a group that lasted 2 hours. Kinda funny that the game even lets you join turns when you've never beat the previous one. If CT2 starts shitting out soldiery upgrade items I'll have no use for T6-8 in a couple of months.
I'm all for the best gear coming from Coil, but relic weapons are unique in that they aren't just standard gear like comparing soldiery gear to high allagan. Maybe SE could reward you for doing both by having T9 not drop weapons but drop an item that can either purchase the i115 Coil weapon or used to upgrade your relic from i110 to i120. That way people who don't want to do the grind can have their i115 weapon but people willing to do the grind and beat T9 haven't wasted their time on the relic. It even solves that awful RNG issue on the T9 weapons.
Personally I find it difficult....to not just log out and play something else.
Pretty much where I stand on those weapons... And I've been playing this game about as casually as it gets. It honestly makes no sense - let's make these weapons for people that don't have time to raid, but then they make the weapons a massive fucking grind. Seriously, what audience are they for? lol
