3 isn't that bad....4s are just luck but SBing gear is not hard at all.

Buy i55 or i70 gear. Spiritbond it in CT or Turn 3. Convert to materia. Use/sell what you find/don't need. I don't understand, just doing your map every day is going to throw a couple thousand gil your way every day anyway.

Fuck off with your tired hashtags, I'm just trying to have a conversation. Anyway, it's more like:

I'm not going to finish grinding out 12 atma, 13,500 myth, 9 books, and 75 alex because after 30 days of FATEs/Brayflox runs, 30 more days of FATEs and Brayflox runs becomes too boring to handle. And if I'm not going to finish, why should I even start? Is this not what a majority of "casuals" are going to think? Maybe not.

Instead of it being a question of the Relic content being hard or not (i hear you loud and clear, it isn't), I just want to hear somebody who wants to follow through with the Novus on their thoughts re: why it's worth it.

Or here's an idea, do other methods of making gil to buy the materia.

Of course it's subjective, but if you don't approach the process as a grind that you have to finish ASAP, it's not really boring. At least IMO.

I noticed that a lot of people who were complaining or feeling burnt out by the whole questline are people who were farming ATMAs or Brayflox speedrunning in 6+ hour stretches to get it done ASAP. I just finished my 8th book and am about 500 away from my last one. I did maybe 1000 myth worth of Brayflox speed runs and the rest of the myth came from logging on for an hour or two a day and doing my roulettes and beastmen dailies. I can say that I don't feel burnt out at all about the whole process and am looking forward to getting my glowstick this weekend.

A lot of people in my FC finished their first Animus way before me and didn't understand why I bothered using the roulette when there are faster ways to farm myth. I'll be the first to admit that the ratio of reward to time spent is pretty low. However, I don't do coil, so logging on, running a few different dungeons and then logging off is enough to keep me subbed. Obviously, this doesn't work for everybody, but it does for some which is what I'm sure was their intended audience for this type of content.

Okay, neato. Thanks for typing that out, that's a perspective that wasn't readily apparent to me.

It really defines what you consider casual. It's a daily "quest" that shuffles you into a dungeon you might be doing anyway for soldiery or myth. Are beastman dailies casual? They only take a few minutes, give you a little pile of gil and don't provide anything worth mentioning for the most part. For that matter, is everything not-coil casual? That's a pretty distinct line.

Hardcore-but-not-raiding probably describes the people who aren't in coil but look at this quest as 60k myth. It's not 60k myth, it's only 60k myth if you ignore the map quest and never do a FATE again. My friends and I haven't raided with any seriousness since November but we're doing Novus weapons because we did Animus weapons because we knew we weren't raiding. It's a circular thought pattern, but it works for us. It gives us something to do and some way to keep playing together without needing to stress about killing each other.

I think a lot of the folks aching about the "grind" are just coming up with reasons to not do it. The weapon looks neat, it'll be functional if you're not clearing T8 and want something unique, and it's fairly stress-free. Casual, sure, but it gives the illusion otherwise.

But really, people who are butthurt over the Novus quest seem to be the people who think these quests should be finishable in a single week for a couple of hours a day. If you realize they aren't they aren't terrible (except Atma).

Animus books? You can get a new book every like 3 days just doing Roulettes.
Novus Alexandrite? You can get one a day by a repeatable quest just for doing your Roulette, then a bonus one for 800 Myth or rare fate drop.
Novus Materia? You can either buy (which you don't have to) or you can spiritbind to get (or sell what you get to purchase the materia you need) for little time commitment.

Regardless, my plan is just to do my daily quest. Brayflox when I don't have anything to do in game or in real life. Then spiritbind and FATE when I need a new stock of materia and I will get my Novus when I get it.

I feel people just wanted to spend 900 Soldiery and get their Novus.

You've crossed the barrier! Ugh my soul, so Tier IV will be like 20%?

Edit: The secret key to success is CT, spirit bind + myth + try to out dps people in i90+ gear. I just got a ton of i70 and its all 80% done, anything less than i70 bind s so fast.

This is how I'm handling it. While I'm probably in the minority having my HA weapon. People are going to burn themselves out farming out the myth or through fates.

If you do both daily roulettes a day you're looking at..

    Expert: 50 myth
    High Level: 120 myth
    Total myth daily: 170 myth

You get a Alexandrite every 4.7 days from myth and you're getting your 1 a day from the daily. Based on that you finish all 75 in 8.8 weeks. For a weapon that isn't BiS that you're getting just to do it that isn't a bad side project >_>. Instead of getting burnt out on a non BiS should be focusing on T9.

Don't forget Trial Roulette which (unless you get the shittiest Titan party) is quick like 80 myth.

Think I was just expecting this to be instant gratification like anything else in this game that wasn't Coil. I guess it's not a bad thing that it takes effort. Not something I'm gonna bother with though.
