I think so, unless the following quest unlocks the 'possibility to drop from fates

I heard one person say they got an alex before starting the novus quest, I think you just have to have animus equipped.

I wonder if it's worth buying the IVs now even though I won't need them for another 45 days or so. Wouldn't surprise me if SE does something to increase the flow of in-demand materia in 2.3 so it's a gamble.

Depends what IV's. Some people are already speculating with vit IV's..etc. As far as buying the IV's for your novus, right now piety/det is in huge demand and basically every other IV is at "market value". It's impossible to tell if the price will go up or down at this point, but one thing is for sure, prices sky rocket after every patch.

Its only going to go up with people going the slow route of 1-2 alexandrites per day and you have a mass of people hit the IV market.

Of course, if you finish early, you can make all that gil back selling myth items as the price of such stuff went waaayyyup also, so with some effort, you can make the millions you will be spending on your novus >.>

So I didn't notice the translucent hexagons from the pics until I got my own shield. Kinda like the effects of protect, and they slowly floats upwards.

for those that have yours finished is there a different pattern in your glow aside from the color change?

Still like the glow of animus better, but I guess the hexagons are a minor plus. Maybe in the end we can pick what color we want our weapons to glow (can hope)

went the 9 Acc 13 Parry route, broke 2 tier I, and 2 tier II, not too bad, all tier IIIs & IVs are self-sb. Didn't do much brayflox unless it's from the daily experts. 3 Alex from FATEs. Collected 22 Alex then did the whole thing in one session. I think I will slow it down even more for the sword part.
