For same weapon no, if you had two that can use books dunno.

Pretty sure the answer's still "no", the chick won't sell you another one. If she would, then why do the trials n times when you could just collect n sets of atma, convert all your weapons at once, and then do the trials once for all of them.
If it weren't for the fact that I'm saving my second set of atma, I'd go find out right now.
I beg to differ, if anything adding ACC to your weapon is short-sighted. My current bow is Rosenbogen (zero ACC) and I'm fine on ACC in T9. I'll probably have even more ACC gear items by the time next patch rolls around.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I can always take some crafted item and jam it full of Heavens Eye if it's problem. In the end, unless by some miracle I'm 20 acc short CRIT/DET will come out the strongest weapon.
I really doubt the bow will ever be "unusable" with the current amount of ACC on HA/Sol gear.
I'd say if you wanna do any kind of future proofing, just use the jump in acc from Coil 1 >> Coil 2 as a basis for what you'll need for the first couple of turns in Coil 3. If you can add 15-35~ acc above the current cap using armor pieces, then just Crit/Det.
So fuck doing Determination on Holy Shield Novus. The 9th infusion is 50% instead of 60% and of course I failed 3 infusions before the 4th one finally stuck in the last slot. Should've done accuracy and not lost 2 million gil.
A) Unless the acc values go apeshit high in new content and there's literally no items with higher acc on them for MNK than current gear, you're still sitting on 553 acc with food. That's 40 above the cap for t9, and the difference between t5 and 9 is about 40 as well.
B) MNK's BiS isn't lacking in accuracy. If it was, it wouldn't fucking be the best thing to put in that slot.
A) That leaves you room to upgrade pieces that will drop accuracy (or just use them in the case of Coil drops) where you would otherwise be sitting on gear/tomes. This is the entire point. It's overkill now so you have room later. The crit you drop is not going to make a significant dent in your DPS. Having to sit in an i110 piece instead of using an i120+ will be a more significant loss.
B) MNK's BiS with HA Claws will put you around 520 with food and based on the jump from T5 to T6, that'll be borderline front-accuracy for the first Turn of the Third Binding Coil, which leaves you no wiggle room for upgrading pieces that cost you accuracy.
Hint: The best thing to put in a particular slot changes depending on the level of content you're doing. When you're doing something that requires more accuracy, that piece that doesn't have acc may not be the best in slot anymore. You had to upgrade your acc going from t5 to 6, why would you think going from 9 to 10 would be any different?
Accuracy will always be the more conservative option, and it will make it so new items are always usable, but I highly doubt it will ever be required, or that it wouldn't ultimately be easier to obtain from other gear slots. You're essentially banking on the fact that they intentionally screw over a large portion of relic owners or that they just don't bother to balance their gear numbers out at all to make sure you can hit various acc caps.
Hint: Your goal isn't to make a BiS weapon for Leviathan EX, is it?
Obviously Accuracy is the highest priority stat. But the fewer pieces of equipment it takes you to hit the accuracy requirement, the more slots you have available for DET, Crit, and Skill Speed. There are three things I'm banking on to make Acc/DET a more effective option. The accuracy cap going up, not every piece of i120+ gear having accuracy on it, and not being RNG-blessed into getting all the accuracy-having pieces I need before the non-accuracy pieces that I would otherwise have to sit on. Which of these assumptions is unreasonable to you?
Would the above "screw over" a significant number of Novus owners? Potentially, insofar as they will have to upgrade as they have the last two major patches, with a mind for accuracy first and the rest later. Whose fault will that be? They'll have chosen their path just as I'll have chosen mine. Others are betting on Crit/DET being the most convenient path, I'm betting Acc/DET will be.
You don't lose crit/det by putting accuracy on your weapon, you just swap one of the other pieces you would have had accuracy on with a piece giving crit/det and end up with similar numbers for both stats. But at the end of the day BiS means very little in a game where you take what you can get from RNG Coil drops and fill the rest with whatever upgraded soldiery you can grab. I know some people prefer to sit with i90 pieces until they get the HA drop they want but they could be waiting months or even until 2.4 and I don't like that.
The guy who plays BRD for my static will only spend his soldiery on what he considers BIS items, which is understandable I guess. But we haven't seen a single BRD drop yet in coil2. That just goes to show you what RNG thinks about that.
Spending soldiery on item is sure fire way to get the HA piece to drop next run, idk what he's thinking.
Speaking of, I have been running CT on SCH for spiritbonding/gear (since it's half-geared since I'm spec'd for SMN) and decided since I had the potash to make a Vanya Robe since I could never get Royal Vest to drop (and worst case I can SB it) and shit you not the next CT I got Royal Vest.
Its happened to me like 3 times now. Wosrt was quint melded skirt of aiming i got to use for one T6 and T7.
In the bards defense, a few of the soldiery items are pretty awful, especially if you're already over the acc cap. For example Bards Ringbands (ilvl 90) using current stat weights comes out to ~24.615, while the auroral bracers (ilvl 100) only comes out to ~23.336. Not saying the bard is correct, I'd have to see his gearing choices, but I'm still using a couple pieces of i90 gear over soldiery.
Funny. I kinda agree...better to go ahead and take an upgrade if it's an upgrade, even if it's not BIS. The "only buying BIS" is a little shortsighted, in general. But some soldiery pieces downright suck, or are very minor upgrades at lv100.
In our case at least the BRD is a really good player when it comes to playing the job (which is more important), and he mains PLD outside our static, so he's been gearing it too.
So true it hurts. I bought Noct hands before coil and HA dropped hours later.
Though on the "not spending soldiery on non-BiS but getting RNG-fucked", I wouldn't say it's that essential especially if the alternatives in question suck. For healer especially. Tank I say go for it as long as you stay acc capped (I don't even know/care what established BiS is for PLD, though I'm sure I'm not following it because I view Parry as an afterthought). DPS is meh, depends on the slot I say.
Aside from body and waist, BRD's left side sold gear isn't just "not BiS", it's straight up shit.
Skills speed errwhere, crit nowhere.
Even worse, skill speed is the major secondary stat on head/legs/feet (minor on hands).
