Math is on the previous page for why 8 VIT will destroy 15 Parry and the accuracy can be made up elsewhere.

I want as few left-side Soldiery pieces as possible because the fewer I have the fewer Sands of Time I'll end up needing, so I'd use Heavy Wolfram/Allagan until High Allagan drops from T6.

Just bought my Noct Belt today (lucked out with two brayflox in progresses at the final boss this morning), so this is what I'm at for T6 (going with a friend's static this week since they have an opening then hopeful to have T5 clears for the last of my static for next week): http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MH2F

I'm probably going to stop buying gear until I get a new coil drop simply because unless I get like Feet it will take me below the ACC cap. Also, I want to get some gear for my BLM/SMN.

Have already got noct shield, body, legs, and ring. Trying to decide whether to get the belt, earrings, feet, or head today. Thoughts? Was thinking about just using them on DRG at this point, but I never get to play that. I could actually afford two accessories after I cap for the week.

I have my eyes on the belt, assuming accuracy isn't a concern. Also, H.A. belt drops from Turn 8, so if you're not clearing that, then it's a nice stopgap in the mean time.

belt it is. can make a swap for any accuracy loss, doubt i'll miss the parry from valor gloves if I switch to allagan ones

edit: actually, gauntlets drop in T8 as well and give 1 extra VIT. think I'll get those instead then belt next week.

I grabbed the Body, Legs, Shield, Ring, and Burtgang and consider myself pretty much done. I'll just wait for the eventual High Allagan drops, and spend my future Soldiery on alts.

I upgraded my noct ring last week and then bought another weathered one and the game lets you do this. The tank ring drops from T9 since haven't beat that yet its the 2 best rings I can get for now.

I have a feeling I already know what the answer is, but just to confirm (because I haven't had to chance to check myself yet): To use cover, you have to be within 10 yalms of a party member. Do you, however, have to remain within 10 yalms to continue absorbing damage for them? Because I noticed that the buff on both the Paladin and the party member doesn't wear off, even if they move past 10 yalms.

You must remain in range of each other. I haven't checked to see if the functionality remained the same after they buffed the range.

Right now I am trying to debate if 20 DET is worthwhile of losing 4 Parry.

    250 DET build (559 Parry): http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MN2H
    230 DET build (563 Parry): http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MN2G

    Other builds:
    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MBJM
    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/M938

I find it crazy how many different builds there are for PLD this time around. It also sucks that our i115 weapon and shield yield crappy stats.

And for more thoughts I got some information from this reddit post: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen..._for_t9_known/

On your 563 Parry set, why not use HA Neck with HA Bracelets?

Like I said there are so many ways to do this it baffles me.

    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MN5G

Your right though in that doing that you keep the same amount of Parry and only lose is 26 skill speed (which is unnecessary).

I really dont know if there is a true BiS for PLD this time around...

Reasonable amount of Parry with as few Sands/Oils as possible is what I would call BiS.

Only thing is I disagree with this for one main reason. Sands/Oils are guaranteed. You get an oil for T7/T9 every time, and Sands from T8 and T9. So relying on RNG of having your high allagan drop in theory could take longer then you simply beating T7-T9 on a weekly basis to get to BiS.

I know this from experience as just earlier this week I finally got my Allagan Blade from T5. Mind you I have been farming ever since it came into DF/PF so total number of times I have beaten it with my PLD is over 50....RNG sucks sometimes.
    Spoiler: show
    RNG sucks all the time

Unless you're jacking all the oils/sands from your group it could take just as long to get them all as it would to get the High Allagan drop. Build around whichever you get first but given the choice, I would take a HA-focused set over a Noct-focused set so as to leave the oils/sands for our healers/DPS.

That I can agree with. Our DPS has definitely been getting geared with Oils and we just beat T8 so our two lowest ilvl DPS rolled on it. As the PLD I have been very fortunate and have HA Helm, Earrings, Bracelets and Boots. The shield dropped in T8 but our other tank is newer to our static and I couldn't even use the HA shield bec of the ACC cap. Heck with my current gear I am using Lava Toad Legs in T8 just to meet ACC cap. I could use my Curtana Atma (far from Animus) but the Allagan blade helps me do about 25+ more DPS and helps me keep hate better.

If there is one thing I am upset about is that while the DPS is getting all the gear because of all the DPS checks, I as the PLD am hitting no harder really then before (str is a useless stat) and so keeping hate is getting harder and harder in end-game. As a PLD I think we need a better way to generate enmity but that's just my opinion.

Animus, Tidal, or your group throws you a bone for soldiery weapon.

The problem I've noticed lately is that Flash's enmity generation scales very poorly compared to DPS damage. Savage Blade/Halone will probably normalize with an i110/i115 weapon but because tanks are likely one of the last people in any given static to get an Unidentified Allagan Tomestone + sand, it ends up putting them behind the eight-ball. I don't really have an accuracy issue (I have no visible pieces of HA/Noct, just HA choker/wrist/belt/shield) currently, although that could change if the wrong piece drops next (earring mostly).

There's no reason to believe Flash would scale anything other than linearly like......everything else in the game.

Problem being its threat generation is not tied to weapon damage, nor does whatever stat it is tied to (STR) seem to influence by the same magnitude that primary stats/weapon damage influence damage.
