Imagine, if you will, the following scenario: It's the second time you need to hit the button. You are the designated converter button pusher, and a squishy healer. Leviathan goes for a swim. You are in position to push the button. Suddenly a well-meaning bard and black mage run to the converter to help push it. Uh oh, grand fall spawns under them. Out of reflex they run out of it, tracking their second and third grand falls everywhere. Now the entire area surrounding the button is covered in sudden death. The MT and OT are too far to push the button in time. Leviathan is about to barrel down one side and you have rain drops about to ruin your day on the other. You have less than a second to make a decision. Your options are:
1) Die
2) Die
This may only happen once every eighty runs, but the emotions of rage and helplessness last forever.
When your options are "Eat 3 grand falls" or "get pushed off by leviathan" you are going to die, or you are going to die. I've seen the exact situation they're describing. It's obvious enough you haven't.
Under what condition would 3 grand falls ever kill a tank? You're looking at 4-6k damage total depending on whether or not you have water resist down stacks already.
I'm pushing 90 kills at this point, that trivial mechanic is never an issue.
Not that you'd ever have 3 Grand Falls so perfectly positioned that you'd have to eat them all to hit the switch, lol
It only takes 1 or 2 people NOT doing some kind of appropriate stepping (J-step, step'n'stop, whatever) for Grand Fall to be more than an annoyance. Combine that with the general laziness/reluctance of most pickups hitting the switch, and I don't know how you can say this isn't an occasional problem at least.
Hardly a scientific test, but I've been doing Levi a bit lately on SMN and I'm beginning to question if DoTs are actually ticking when he's doing dives. Just seems like the bar should budge somewhat with fresh dots on head and contagion'd dots on tail, but when he resurfaces it doesn't look like it has moved (for example, didn't move from between A and T in Leviathan on focus target).
I've had adds jump in the middle of leviathan's dives w/ double SMN, so I would hope they tic.
Hmm. Possible his HP pool is just big enough that it's not enough time to show a visible tick on the bar. Nevermind me then.
Definitely ticks while he's away.
I apologize if it was mentioned earlier, but the whm can fluid aura interrupt dreadstorm, if the need ever arises
Are Levi's "regular" attacks magical like ADS/Ultimas?
Heads are, tails aren't I think... tail I know isn't since you can shield block them.
Head is magical so it won't proc E4E or parry or block, though I have DODGED Attack.
