Just planted Kakkra Root against some Mirror Apples. I planted all the Kakkras first, and then the apples. Just harvested the Kakkra and got 0 seeds.

I feel like an idiot now

Gardening seems really easy - but it is deceptively complex and requires lots of patience and lots of reading and cross checking to learn what to do and how to do it.

I've been gardening since shortly after the patch that added gardening - and I keep learning stuff all the time. Our little FC has one deluxe garden patch. Which means that I have to think everything out way ahead of time - so that I can minimize the time where I hog up all the garden. Fortunately we only have a couple people in our group who are interested in gardening details - so I can use the garden pretty much all the time. Our group will all eventually have magic broom minions and other minions too... Just takes time and patience.

You also need to be exceptionally patient. Most of my time in game is gardening or gathering stuff to garden (mine soils, botany seeds, upgrade mining and botany gear to mine/botany better...)

It's fun - but no immediate gratification at all. I'll be glad to explain anything I understand


Krakka + Mirror Apple can get you Curiel Root - grade 3 thanalan soil has 90% chance of cross breeding. To cross breed - I would not use any other soil. It is possible to get no seeds... Rare - but the best you could have gotten were four seeds. Zero seeds seems kind of harsh... But it's a statistical possibility - RNG rang bad numbers... (Sigh) sorry about that.

There is some discussion about mixing in shroud soil to increase yields. I saw one example of someone getting nine seeds... So it can work - but not completely understood how this works yet.


As for purple mist and plants dying - I don't know much at all. I do know that the plants need to be tended once every 24 hours (at least). They get purple mist after that - and will die after three days (if I remember correctly). You also want to harvest as soon as you can - as fully grown plants that are ready to harvest can also die. You lose the whole plant in that case. I did notice that a couple of my plants I had not watered in a couple days were purpled and watering brought them back to healthy - but the grew a slower than the ones I had reliably tended. I tend my garden most times I fertilize. It does not hurt to tend the plants more than once a day.

since if you mix normal/rare seeds and krakka seeds, it will be an alternating harvest cycle and you should only get 4,4,4,4,4?

unless im misinterpreting something

edit: oh you guys meant that u planted 4 in Xs FIRST and then other 4, which total 4 seeds in 8 plants XD, my bad

also, i been getting alot of 9x mimmet gourds seeds lately. They come from grade 3 shroud seeds for krakka, beside dzemel tomatoes and prickly pineapple. but usually only 1x9, or 2x9 max out of the 4 krakkas

for some reason this:

honey lemon - Pineapple (harvested) - honey lemon

gave me: 6 apricot kernels seeds and the rest is lemon and pineapple. how come i didnt get 8 seeds and only got 6 seeds? too me forever to grow them 5 days

Here's the ones I know, I dont know if theres La Noscea Grade 3. But I dont know what are the usage for La Noscea soil and most of the grade 1s soils

La Noscea Grade 2

Shroud Grade 2
Shroud Grade 3 (to increase the amount of stuff you want to grow)

Than Grade 1
Than Grade 2
Than Grade 3 (used in crossbreeding)

I only the usage for Grade 3 shrould and grade 3 than. I'm curious about the usage of the rest....

game escape shows that garlic seeds and mandrake grows garlic jester minion but it doesnt show how to do it. can anyone show me how to lay the seeds in the garden?

so they're all the same? cause i saw some that requires to plant 3 types of seeds so it confuses me. i dont want to put it in the wrong slot and grow nothing
the description doesnt say much, it seems like all la noscea soil is to grow HQ items. they all say: Increases the likelihood that plants will yield higher quality crops.

From what I've read - the crossbreeding with thanalan grade 3 soil is only 90% of the time. It's possible to get no seeds - but mostly I've gotten between 6 and 8.

Lately when I plant starting with an empty garden - I plant the first seed in cheap soil and I plant my cheapest seed that I want to crossbreed with. In your example - it'd be a toss up (honey lemon and pineapple are both able to be harvested via botany). In my last planting - I put in broombush and almonds. The first seed planted was an almond seed in cheap grade 1 soil (almonds I can gather, broombush seeds are expensive buggers). Once I get all the way around - then I pull up that first almond - and plant another one there in grade 3 thanalan soil.

Why do that? The first seed planted had nothing to crossbreed with - so would not result in a seed at all. The second seed crossbreeds with the first seed - as i plant clockwise - so always next to each other as I plant. The pulling up of that first seed bugs me - but replanting an almond there in thanalan grade 3 soil gives it a chance to crossbreed too - so I might get eight seeds instead of seven. I've done this twice now - waiting to see how it goes the second time. First time I still only got 7 seeds - which can happen with the 90% chance of crossbreeding working at all.

Duration of growing varies by the grade or level of the seed. Krakka roots seems to grow fastest. Glazenuts take what seems like ages. Four or five days is about right for most of what I grow. But if you fertilize every hour then you take an hour off the total growing of that specific plant... So if you just tend and fertilize once a day - it will keep growing - but won't shorten the growing time all that much. Folks in my FC help by fertilizing all the time - makes it much easier on me

Gardening takes a lot of patience...


From what I've read - I think that planting the seeds that grow minions can be in any soil. If you want to crossbreed them with something else - then use grade 3 thanalan soil and plant in the order that is described other places so that the crossbreed is in the correct direction. X + Y may not always be the same a Y + X when it comes to minion crossbreeding - I think. Not sure - I have not planted any minion seeds or tried to crossbreed them...but the descriptions so far do not always seem to indicate the crossbreeding is always symmetrical.
