Earlier this month, we reported that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. would soon be getting a (non-Agent Carter-related) spinoff from Marvel and ABC. Now, thanks to Deadline, we know that the show will (probably) be about Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Nick Blood’s Lance “Accent Guy” Hunter. We’re saying “probably” because everyone is still “finalizing deals” and “in talks,” so it’s not officially official yet, but it might as well be.

S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski are currently writing the script, and Deadline believes that Zbyszewski will be the showrunner.

This is all in addition to the secret Marvel show that 12 Years A Slave’s John Ridley is working with ABC on, which we just wrote about yesterday.

With Avengers: Age of Ultron just around the corner, what does this mean for the ABC show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Many viewers remember that when Captain America: Winter Soldier came out, and S.H.I.E.L.D. became corrupted by everything Hydra, the show's characters had to deal with the outcomes of that, which put them in a sticky situation.

According to USA Today, the outcome of Avengers: Age of Ultron will do the same thing to the ABC show. The upcoming two episodes, starting this Tuesday, will have Easter eggs and an assortment of elements leading up to the Avengers sequel.

Colbie Smolders will be returning as Maria Hill to the show and on the May 5 episode, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have to deal with the aftermath of the film. However, S.H.I.E.L.D. is not getting destroyed again.

The current stories won't totally get derailed by all of this though. There's still Real S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye learning to deal with her new abilities, and the "Theta Project," which executive producer Jeff Bell says will pay off by the end of the season.

First half of season 1 is a generic cop show with Marvel name drops. Second half ties into Winter soldier and all of a sudden becomes really fucking good. First half of the second season is even better. But the second half of season 2 (where we are now) is fucking incredible. Must watch. 10/10

The only movie that was released that affected the show so far was Winter Soldier. Hard to say if it made Winter Soldier better for me or not, but I absolutely love watching the aftermath of that movie unfold on TV over the past year.

I would say I like the first 1/2 of S2 better so far. I like the sky stuff and the theta subplot, but the real SHIELD I just don't care for and they haven't done anything to make me feel it's anything more than hydra 2.0. However it looks like it will lead into the spinoff of STRIKE or SWORD if the hunter / Bobbi stuff is true.

Though I hope hunter is still a regular on SHIELD afterwards to some extent

Just Captain America: the Winter Soldier that's had an effect on this so far. I really enjoyed that - the real-time crossover felt like the sort of thing that they try to do in comics all the time actually working in another media. Since the shot in the arm of Winter Soldier, I've really enjoyed this show. I hope that I'm going to be getting a lot out of the crossover. Seeing Avengers this Saturday, so looking forward to tonight's episode which should set it up.

Or wait, will it set it up? I'm in the UK but I'm watching on US schedule for Agents of Shield because I'm a filthy pirate. If the next two episodes are setting it up for a May 1st release date in the US but it's got an April 23rd release date in the UK, and the UK release of Agents episodes is about three episodes behind US, it's clear some idiot in charge of scheduling has buggered something up somewhere.

First off, you are definitely not missing anything in the movies if you don't watch the show.

Having said that, you should watch the show.

Give it till about 3/4 through season 1 because it takes that long to get to the Winter Soldier stuff. From that point on it goes from good, to amazing. I have not enjoyed a show as much as I enjoy this show in a long time. That's mostly due to the MCU tie-ins. Coulson is the best. Multiple appearances from Lady Sif from Thor, Bruce Banners seclusion cabin, etc. Watching the fall and rebuild of shield from inside Shield was great as well. All of the inhumans stuff has me more and more hyped for the Inhumans movie in 3+ years though.

Are Lance Hunter and Mockingbird getting their own spinoff series? At the very least, they’re a big part of something new as The Hollywood Reporter just broke the news that Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki will be starring on ABC’s upcoming “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” spinoff. Executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski are shepherding the series together, though there’s no word what the new show’s focus will be. The trade does suggest, however, that the plot of the series will become clear after the end of “S.H.I.E.L.D.’s” second season. What’s more, they suggest that another show is on the way that will feature the “reinvention of an existing superhero character” with John Ridley developing.

Neither of the new series is 100% confirmed at this point, but both are being targeted to premiere sometime in 2016. It is also suggested that the odds are very much in favor of “S.H.I.E.L.D.” returning for a third season, but there’s no update on another season of “Marvel’s Agent Carter.”

A lot of people don't enjoy the first half of season one's "villain of the week" format, but I think looking back, it really helped the 2nd half by establishing characters and putting things in place.

We get to see Ward do a ton of heroic shit to set up the shock when he turns. The Deatlok program, Centipede, the 084 RAY GUN OF DEATH, the SHIELD academy, the kid with ice powers--all of it pays off in the 2nd half of the 1st season (or beginning of 2nd).

Putting money down right now on the Hydra base for next week being the one from the ending credits scene of Winter Solider. My bet is that the raid on the compound leads to the hunting of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver that's been teased as the first act of Age of Ultron.

For Avengers 2? I don't think NA people need to worry about that. Least, I'm up to date on Agents and there hasn't been any Ultron references or anything of the such. And just 1 more Episode before Age of Ultron is in theaters.

Yeah, I'm not NA and we get avengers in 2 weeks here, so I guess I will only need to wait a little with one episode.
