Perhaps we differ in opinion then, and theres no way to go back in time and say what would have been the right move, but the players Therrien put out there failed to deliver. They had 4 shots for, but also had two shots against on that PP.

The hot hand of Galchenyuk? The guy who has literally one point in three games. Over Vanek? Uh ok. Lars Eller or Gallagher over Vanek? Uh ok. Of all of the players you just mentioned which one of them has the ability to carry the entire team? Which one has the talent and ability to do that? None of them do. The Habs have four players that are capable of turning a game around on their own. Vanek, Pacioretty, Subban, and Price. That's it. That's the list. The others are nice complimentary pieces, but that's all they're going to be. They'll contribute, sure. But nothing along the lines of what those four do. Don't let the stats line fool you into thinking any of those players are better than Vanek(Galchenyuk can be in time.)

meh, i wouldn't read much into it, I think Simpson likes to say shit to grab attention for himself. Could be right, maybe not, who knows but that's a pretty HEY LOOK AT ME evaluation, imo. It was kind of obvious that was the plan when they started talks with Trotz. I'm glad it wasn't Shero, though I would have liked if they went with someone else.

While I generally agree, Trotz doesn't really fall into that bucket. His contract expires in June and both parties generally felt it was time for a change. He stayed with one team for over 15 years; that is crazy. I knew he would be picked up asap.
