In very significant news, the Oilers are now guaranteed playoff bound having signed Steven Pinizzotto to a 1 year deal.

In actual somewhat significant news, the Oilers also hired Bob Nicholson as vice-chairmen of the Oilers Entertainment group. I don't know how hockey oriented the hiring is, or if it's moreso just business and finance position. But mostly likely being the latter, he's probably there to make sure the Oil don't lose ALL their money while the team tanks and builds a $400 million dollar hockey arena at the same time.

Also, we have what? 2 weeks until the draft? And then about 3 or 4 days after that we have free agency right? During the Iggy era in Calgary, I was always super hyped about free agency day. But this yeah especially, draft day has my biggest interest. Free agency will be alright I guess. It's really interesting to think where he'll end up. The doode is absolutely cup-hungry. Boston is definitely a contender in the East, but considering how strong the west was this year, I could see him coming back over to our side. And... dare I say it... sign with Chicago?

(Actually, I wouldn't be shocked if he signed with LA, having played with Sutter as his coach before and considering how some people are thinking LA might be one of those dynasty teams.)

If Ekblad is available when the Oilers pick, and the Oilers don't take him, everybody should be fired. GM, coach, cleaning staff, everyone.

I hope the oilers do take Ekblad, rush him into a top 4 role his first year with no strong veteran core to watch over him, squeak into the playoffs, and then watch his psyche be permanently ruined when he crumbles against a #1 type team in the first round and gets blasted in the media.
