    Tax E-file (Non-resident)

    Hey guys,

I have a friend just came to me for help for filing tax return (yes it's super late I don't know why she wait till now to ask). She was here on a J-1 Visa in Chicago and worked there for about 4 months. I googled and it turns out Non-residents have to file a different form (1040NR-EZ) than regular resident like us. She's planning to return to US to finish with a higher degree so she doesnt want to mess up filing taxes. I had tried different tax programs and none of them have 1040NR-EZ form filing. I also believe she has to file a state federal tax as well (IL). Do you guys know of any websites that does this sorta thing?

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Most (all?) tax sites will give fed free and then charge for state. They should let you fill everything out before charging (they just won't file it until you do). So you can see at the end which is cheapest. They gotta make their money somehow.

[edit] to clarify, they should file it for you, you would only need to print it so she can have records of it.

npnp, I do my own taxes online since I'm lazy haha.

With the state one btw it'll ask for her to sign it, but she doesn't need to send it out. She just needs to keep it for 5 years in case she gets audited. They (tax company) will send their copy with an electronic signature.
