Go for PhD because of scholarship funding? As a PhD degree holder, I'm kind of against if unless you really have a clear path on your career. What you want to do after PhD, what you know about PhD degree market and etc. Else, you will suffer more than anything else, and will regret for wasting your life. Also, your job choice will be even more limited with PhD degree.

CS, you may try to hit for job market for about 6-8 months, then go for enlist if you still get rejected by market and pharmacy school during this summer period. My friend joined army during his 3rd year of college, going enlisted during Oct, and seems to be enjoying it after 2 years.

yeah.... PhDs are a HUGE investment in time and money. and really, the difference in pay between a PhD and not isn't very large in some fields. especially if you don't publish in journals. so do the research.

I joined the forces as an officer after getting my Bachelor's, to become an air traffic controller. Life is very very good in the military, but I'm Canadian, so the pay scales are very much different.

I was hesitant at first, but I regret nothing and it's everything and more than I would have imagined.

This needs to be repeated like 100 times. So many people go to grad school because they finish undergrad and then don't know what they want to do, so grad school seems like the next step (like college was the next step after high school). I don't know about other fields, but for us, it's about 50% attrition rate for grad students, I think largely because so many people get into it without thinking it through and really knowing what they're getting into.

You mean like I have for both (ROTC don't count for much though)? Or the fact that my first housemates were two openly gay navy men? Perhaps I ought see first hand from two of my closest high school friends in both branches? You're right though, I don't have experience in full time service. A nigga can't joke sometimes.
