As a matter of fact, anything north of East Bay is ass. I generally only go to Gulf to Bay, but I've gone several miles further a few times ad that is terribad.

West on Gulf to Bay also fucking sucks (towards Clearwater Beach; have biked there a few times)

Generally like 85% of Pinellas roads are horrible. Ulmerton has been a shitstain on the landscape since 2008 when I moved here, probably even before that. I think 19 will be great if they ever finish it, but whenever I go that way I never see any progress being made.

One good thing about living up north is they have a deadline to their road repairs, they have to finish before it snows again so they have like 4 good months of work and they bust that shit out. lol

It took ODOT 6 years to expand highway 22 (East of Salem) to 4 lanes because of the bullshit "5 months working because of the cold" attitude. I guess it depends on the contractor, but just because it is going to freeze doesn't motivate them to work faster around here.

RE: teaching in Korea,
I know it's not Korea, but I have an uncle that took a job as a college administrator in Spain. He is 3 years into a 5 year contract and makes enough money to own about $2.5m in real estate here in the states. Makes me want to get a degree in education and pursue admin level stuff abroad.

Well an entire long stretch of road does take forever but they'd generally work on the highways in small chunks, like 2 miles per summer. So yeah it does in comparison take a fucking century but they at least won't leave up orange cones, barriers, and lane closures during snowstorms which would be ... actually kind of hilarious to watch but very hazardous.

Lol, I feel your pain though. Ever since I've moved here I've been astounded by how long construction takes. There's a stretch of road (Ulmerton, west of Belcher) that has been under construction literally for the entire 6 years I've lived here.

I asked cause with the loss of tenure in Florida recently, my gfs job fresh out of college is in limbo. She is probably OK, as she knows the right people and is good at her job, but teaching abroad was never truly off her list, and I told her I'd go with her if she ever did.

Look into Spain. I was in Europe recently and met some American girls teaching English in Spain. According to them, Spain is one of the few EU countries that doesn't require that you know the native language to teach English.

Personally I would much rather teach in Spain and visit all of the nice European cities in my free time instead of Korea.

Amen to that, Spain is hella nice, both in-terms of food and women. I'd go teach there in a heartbeat.

Urban metropolises get old fast anyways. You could potentially make more bank in China and travel to a new place every month. My bro who's been in China for 5yrs now has never even been to college, before arriving, does this himself. Privately tutoring rich kids alone is enough to live like a king, let alone all the other opportunities you'll run into, just for being an American.
