Star Trek 3: Beyond (July 22, 2016)

I couldn't get any good clear pictures of the venue because the area was roped off and the had security there. Looks like they have it setup Red Carpet Oscars style where fans can sit in the stands and watch as the Celebs come in and do interviews. The event starts at 6pm and the movie begins at 8.

They really didn't capitalize on the potential of a racist Captain Picard. Stewart is an amazing actor and all he gets to do in the movie is whisper menacingly.

Just got back and first off I have to say Paramount did an awesome job with the presentation of the movie. Before thr movie they had the San Diego Philharmonic and a choir on stage playing the main theme with lasers and fireworks going off in the bay. Not only that, the Symphony Orchestra played the full soundtrack live during the movie. It was an incredible experience.

As far as the movie is concerned they really jump into things pretty quickly and things move at a somewhat fast pace. The villain's main goals could've been fleshed out more and there were some smaller details I wished they explained buy overall it was a good movie.

Also regarding Sulu...

at the beginning they are returning to a space colony that reminds me of something from Gundam. When they arrive they all go their separate ways since they will be there a while since the ship is being restocked. Sulu's husband is there to welcome him home and Sulu's young daughter is with him. We don't know if she is adopted or if she was conceived from a previous relationship.

In terms of which films are better I'd say 2 has a slight edge over 3 and the first being last.

I liked two better than one but barely.

Just got home from it. It's a big dumb action movie with a Star Trek coat of paint, but I never really expected anything else from the moment they hired Justin Lin to direct.

Fun and worth the watch, though the movie is a little too in love with its special effect imo
