Tuner/Capture card for console gaming?

I've had the one monitor here for years, which has a pretty clumsy interface for switching input modes on, which I'm getting somewhat tired of. So I'm looking for a means of playing console games within the confines of a window on my PC desktop.

I don't know where to look for hardware that can do that job in realtime though, since the boxes/cards/tuners I've glanced at in stores and online have latency overhead, as they're meant for watching TV or recording footage, not for playing games off of.

The simple solution would be to just buy a small TV (18-24") to use for the consoles. My current available desk space is at a bit of a premium though. Granted, it may end up being the cheaper option also.

Could always just get a cheap(ish) HDMI switch. I picked this one up for when an HDMI port on my receiver went tits up, and haven't had a single issue with it for almost a year now.
