me and a couple friends were just talking about DRK last night lol. Hoping it will be a tank dps of sorts, relying on drain and such to help keep themselves healed up. Also Hoping NIN is some kind of debuffing dps. I would be so happy.
I don't think SE will make Ninja a shadow tank again. And DRK better not be anywhere close to tanking territory.
from what I understand with NIN is that it wasn't even supposed to be a tank job in 11, that's just what the player base did to it. I could go either way with DRK, a tank job with black magic to support itself through drains, aspir, etc. or a pure DPS with a wicked scythe. The only reason I kinda go with DRK tank is that aren't DRKs PLDs that defected? I can't remember exactly where I remember this from though
Doesn't work for XIV lore. Paladins don't belong to any sort of holy order here; They're literally sworn to the Sultanate, hence Sultansworn. Even Free Paladins are basically "Ul'dah recognizes these individuals are acting in the best interest of the Sultanate." There's nothing to defect from, aside from protecting Ul'dah's interests and her people.
Yeah, that makes sense. I'm not tossing the idea of a drk tank out the window just yet though! Calling it now, one of Jenlyns underlings gets fed up with his shit and teachings and starts a new kind of merciless tank
I'd get a good laugh if the lore behind DRK was that one of the THM bros wants to try out being a PLD, and is all, fuck this noise, we need some black magic up in here!
So there are posts on Reddit with rumors that 2.28 drops tomorrow after live letter...
Where the speculation began (see chatlog):
Spoiler: show
I doubt DRK is gonna end up tanking. I think and hope they'll want to offer some role variety when it comes to secondary jobs whenever those are added. It could end up being one of the hybrid jobs.
What in God's name would make you think SAM was meant to be a tank?
Their 1 defensive ability?
Their complete lack of enmity skills?
Let's not talk about what Tanaka-era XI thought about job roles.
