I guess if "already being in a committed relationship" means "afraid of the D" then okay.
well shit, just hook him up with one of your friends, then
.... oh yeah.
I actually registered specifically so I could actually comment on this post. I really thought I was the only one who was an adult female without the ability to make friends easily. I used to latch on to my ex's friends but realized what a mistake that was once it was breakup time - i.e. - I was the bad guy no matter what. Fuck that shit.
I have ventured out and made the mistake of letting some female "friends" in that I thought I could trust just to be back stabbed by them. The only have about 4 real friends and I have I actually met them all through Melena (my husband) and we get along so well because we generally don't bullshit each other and may have differing views but respect that part of each other. On average I can't stand women let alone want them as friends. I've had nothing but negative experiences but I still try to reach out to new people. It sucks. It's really difficult when people may not understand it's unique for everyone.
I've made my best acquaintances and friends online..and so far it has worked for me so I guess I'll stick to that..LOL. I guess I just wanted to say that it's not as uncommon as you may think. But I do think if you really want to put the effort forth finding common interests/hobbies would be a good start as mentioned previously. If you have any secrets to meeting people i'm all ears![]()
Unless they were super tight from high school/sorority; I literally don't know any girls that have attained friends on their own (ie not from a bf). They all say "I don't get along with other girls."
Not all women are catty. The ones that aren't are awesome as fuck to be around too, chill times ahead. My ex was catty as fuck, shit got old quick. New broad is chill as shit, be sittin on the couch watchin shit on tv while I hit up the Dark Souls 2 and talk shit on skype with niggas, no fucks given by either of us.
I don't mind some women, but a lot of the typically "girly" things I have no interest in, like makeup, fashion, and celebrity gossip (this might not be typically girly but I hate it nonetheless). All things a lot of the women I know yak on about incessantly.
you know a lot of fucking idiots, then. i know maybe 3 women that are like that.
Well I work with them, so it's not like I choose to be around them.
You should totally come over and watch the hockey if you were anywhere close to me. I even have some beer in my fridge I'd share.
Anyway, I am also an introvert that doesn't make friends very fast, but I've moved a lot in my life (criss-crossed the country every 36 months or so), and I've had to go through the process of building a new social life several times. I find I just have to set myself a goal to invite people to do stuff. I'm totally the person that would wait to be invited, but when you don't know anyone, nobody knows you, so they don't know you want to go. So even though it's against my nature I'll go out of my way to do things.
Sometimes people decline, or bail after accepting, or the things end up being boring, or you end up not enjoying other people's company, whatever. But until you try it you don't know.
I guess I'm lucky that I work in an industry where there are a lot of people that have common interests, I've always been able to find fun people without having to stray too far out of my work group. But otherwise, try going to something in your city--even if you're not terribly interested in the activity, but instead interested in the people that are interested in the activity.
This is basically me. I always feel like I'm really bothering people if I message/text/call them or invite them to do anything, and I don't really understand it or know why, but because of that I almost never do it. I'm not as bad as I used to be and I recognize it, but it is still a problem.
But most of the time you have to reach out to me specifically, though once you do I'm always willing to talk or try to hang-out. It's not about not wanting/caring to or trying to close myself off from people, I just can't shake the feeling of it very well.
What the fuck was that dude thinking of giving up that second cookie
Don't. It's only a bother if you keep nagging someone about it. One text to ask (Hey gonna do X tomorrow, want to join?) then another right before if they had said "maybe," like (Hey heading to X now, you're welcome to join). This is not an imposition on anyone.
It will only be annoying if you keep pestering people about it. Most of the time "maybe" is people's nice way of saying "no," so just leave it alone.
