Internet speed slows when PS3 turned on (not online)

Okay, I'm absolutely stumped.

Any time I turned on my PS3 -- not connecting it to PSN, just turning it on -- the speed on my computer slows to a halt. I don't even have to pick a user on the PS3, just turning it on makes the computer slow down.

What's going on? It's only started doing this recently and it's only affecting my computer. It does nothing to my phone's WiFi, and disconnecting my phone from WiFi doesn't do anything for it either.

Please help, all I want to do is watch Netflix while I grind on FFX.

Router problem i believe.

I had a similar problem and found out it was due to the PS3's media sharing option. If you turn that off it should fix the problem.
