Ok, not even in Pokemon Emerald back in the day did I ever one-shot Brawly's Makuhita. My Sylveon alone crushed his 2 fighting types.

Also, another thing of note about the Pokemon Radar and "sneaking", the more you encounter/fight the pokemon, the radar detection goes higher in level. With the higher level detection, it will tell you everything about it's potential, level, egg move if any, etc.

It happened to me again. Route 110, a Lv. 23 Voltorb with Electro Ball. Thankfully I now have a Marshtomp so any electric type moves are irrelevant. Yes, I liek my mudkipz

Since Ive played RuSa so many times I didn't know what sort of team to get. So I'm doing something more unorthodox (than what I normally do) and just playing through with 2 Pokemon. I'm gonna try to beat the game with just Treecko and Tentacool since they cover each other pretty well. Also I never really used either of them.

Anyone else using any unusual Pokemon or something like that?

I've never really been a fan of bug types, but I'm using a Beautifly on my team right now. The Eevee (now Sylveon) and Charmander I got via Wonder Trade have been the stars of my team in the early game so far.

So all megas were previewed huh? No secret, revealed only when the game officially released, hidden gems?

I've found a few random -ites, but I don't think any of them were any huge secrets though, or they were previously released.

    Alakazite (Mega Alakhazam)
    Manecite (Mega Manetric)
    Aggronite (Mega Aggron)

I haven't come across any of the new ones yet, though I haven't really been thoroughly searching. To give you an idea on how far I've progressed through the game so far, I've beaten Flannery (4th Gym) and I've been doing some training and trying to catch some good pokemon via "sneaking" before I take on Norman. The mega -ite stones are pretty obvious to spot. They sparkle on the ground. They stick out like a sore thumb really.

Just picked up sapphire. This will be my first pokemon since original sapphire. Don't mind me if I post lots of questions.

So... breeding. Am I right that egg/TM moves can pass from either parent now? And level up moves still need to be both parents?

    Friend code is 3110-6639-6236.

    Thanks!

Correct. TM/HM moves are also unlimited now, so they cannot be bred down. However if the Pokemon naturally learns said TM move via level up, it can get it as a baby.

Yeah, I looked up Serebii.net and saw that I missed some. Not much of a problem to go back and find it. Pidgeot was my flying type of choice in Pokemon Yellow, waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day.

ALSO! Some LS mates and I came up with a theory regarding the information that pops up when your radar detects a Pokemon shaking the grass.

It seems as though once you encounter a Pokemon at least 7-8 different times, you will get full information on the pokemon that is shaking the grass. It's species, level, first move (will have a red circle with a ! in it if it is an egg move), it's ability (will have a red circle with a ! in it if it has a rare or hidden ability) and last but not least, it's "potential".

The theory is about the "Potential" of the Pokemon, and is based on how the Friend Safari in X/Y was implemented. In Friend Safari, any Pokemon you caught from there had at least 1 perfect IV at random, but could possibly have a maximum of 3 perfect IV. Based on that, we think there is a similar feature here regarding "sneaking". When the radar detects something, and you click on it to see the information, you can see the "potential" of a Pokemon, depicted as 3 stars. Most of the time, all 3 stars are "empty", indicating (we think) that the Pokemon has no perfect IV's. However, I have come across several Pokemon with 1 white star as Potential. We think this means that particular Pokemon has 1 Perfect IV. Of course, 2 White Stars = 2 Perfect IV's, and all 3 White Stars = 3 Perfect IV.

I, personally, have caught a 3 Star "potential" Machop (now a Machamp) but I don't know just yet where the NPC is that tells you exactly what your Pokemon's strenghs & weaknesses are yet. Once I do get to that point, I will test out the theory with my Machamp and see if our hunch was correct.

Also you can search for specific pokemon once their search level goes up. Just click on its tiny picture on the map and you can find whoever you want.

I'm getting peoples on my friend lists secret bases and that's so fucking awesome.

Also apparently you can just straight up fly to any route you want. Holy fucking shit. 7.8 my ass.

Oh SNAP! Really? Going to try that shit out right now! I've actually been trying for a 3-Star Taillow for a while. I got a 2-Star though, Lv. 6. And it was pretty obvious which perfect IV's it had. DEF and Sp. DEF

Yeah you can search for the Pokemon even when it's low, but you get a lot of "not founds". Pretty sure you find them easier once it gets higher.

Tentacruel kicks so much ass. Toxic spikes with hex/venoshock is so much fun it's completely unfair.

I'm noticing something now that you pointed out how you can search for specific Pokemon. Each time you search one, successfully sneak up to it, and KO it, hit Search and it'll find another one 100% of the time. I'm beginning to think this is the way to "chain" for a chance at a Shiny pokemon appearance.

Can vouch for easier find rate once search level is higher. So far, seems like lvl 10+ = 1 good item (move/ability/held item), 15+ = 2, etc. Haven't gone over 20 yet, got what I wanted move/ability wise before that. Will worry about IVs later.

Can definitely chain with it, though haven't gone more than 5 or so battles without hitting a random fight in between, so no idea on shinies or not.

You can use repels and still get Pokemon that way. Also heres my QR if anyone wants to visit. In a spoiler since it came out larger than I expected.

    Spoiler: show

I've got a nice chain going on Zigzagoon. The search level is up to 35 now, and I can confirm that once you get above Search Lv. 20 you are guaranteed at least one of something that's rare, such as ability, higher level than normal surrounding pokemon, and rare ability. The Potential seems random, though I have come across a 2-Star Zigzagoon. I'm trying for a 3-Star Zigzagoon though and will keep chaining to see if I can get a Shiny just to confirm my suspicions.

***Ninja Edit*** - I fucked up at Chain 32, but I did get myself a 3-Star Zigzagoon in the process with the "Quick Feet" hidden ability. The search level keeps going higher after each encounter. I'm wondering if there's a cap or not, and another thing, the higher the Search Level is, the higher probability of rare egg moves, or rare ability, or higher potential.
