Not even loyal to the country. Always root for South Korea in the Olympics
They should like whoever the hell they want
They should like the local teams only.

As a northern RI native (I know it seems stupid to people that aren't from RI, but we do differentiate between north and south), it'll be a cold day in hell before I support any team that isn't a Boston team. Been in Korea the majority of the time since 2010, still love me some Boston sports teams.
That same loyalty applies here in Korea. I spent 2 years in Ulsan before moving to Busan, where I've been for more than a year. I want Ulsan Hyundai to beat the shit out of Busan I-Park every time they meet.
Liking the team because you live in the area is fine. You can cheer the team on more easily, you can go to the games, you get camaraderie. For a lot of people, that's what sports are about-- the other fans more than the team. So, cool. Other people, it's about tradition: I've been/my family's been a fan of X team for my whole life, geography won't change that, and especially if they live in a "rival" city, they get to have the rivalry part of sport be real to them. So, cool. Who cares? I've lived in Seattle most of my life; I've been a Broncos and Athletics fan since I learned about sports. I like rivalry more than fitting in, so I suppose that makes sense (though it's not the reason). I tend to expect people who move to have a 1A and 1B team, unless they're REALLY fired up about their original team, and 1B is a fierce division rival.
33-0 poll, supreme victory PERFECT
As someone who was born in Cleveland, I feel we should all cheer for anyone who makes it out of there.
But yeah, I grew up in Denver, became a fan of the Broncos, etc. When my family moved to Texas, there was no way I was going to become a Cowboys fan. I think I went from indifferent to hating the Cowboys actually..
Stop having conversations with idiots... aside from the BG regulars.
I was born and raised to like Detroit sports, so I'm across the boards for everything. However, I find myself cheering for the Bulls/Bears as well sometimes. How can anybody hate Cutty/Gmarsh or Noah???
As for college, I cheer for my own and sometimes for conference minus our rival. They can diaf
Not much of a pro fan here but I'm a huge college fan, I pull for the college my grandfather, father, uncle, and me went to. Makes it easy when it comes to the pros, I just root for whoever recruits my colleges players (hell yeah Seahawks bandwagon all up in here! Of course I did see Wilson play every home game at NCSU in college).
I'm a fan of every Miami sports team just because that's where I lived. Support your local teams.
Even if I had moved to some other US city, I'd keep rooting for Miami, because that's where I would be "from".
Here in Brazil, even though I live in a different place than what my hometown is, I still support my hometown team, no matter what.
And of course, still cheer for the Miami teams (Heat, Dolphins, etc.).
Completely makes sense, dump Washington and go with CLELAND and their AMAZING organization
I cheer for anything Toronto, there's no changing that period. I've been a Leafs fan for 33 years and watched them win all of jack and fucking shit, if their organization always putting a pretty shitty product on the ice can't make me leave them as a fan, then moving my location definately won't.
I'm a Vikings fan because we don't have a hometown team, and my step dad was a Vikes fan so I grew up watching them, I had started to like SD, but I realized that was only because I loved watching LT run the ball(I had just started getting into football when LT when in his prime), after he left I realized I really didn't care for SD. IF Toronto ever gets an NFL team, I'd be an instant fan, I'd just have 2 teams to cheer for in Football now.
I'm from Northeastern PA originally. Contrary to that, I've spent my life absolutely despising the Eagles, Steelers, Flyers, Penguins, Phillies (oddly I didn't despise the Pirates), and 76ers. I now live in Baltimore but could care less about the Orioles, Ravens, or Capitols.
In addition, Family favorites also cause me to have intense rivalries against those teams instead of sharing love of a team. My parents are New Yorkers so I've always hated the Giants, Dodgers, Rangers, and Knicks (Father) and the Dolphins (not a Jets fan oddly), Mets, and Islanders (Mother).
As for what teams I've supported and why:
Patriots: I was a sucker for underdogs and my school shared a mascot. I started watching them back in the days of their seasons where they won maybe 1-3 games. I became a big Bledsoe fan in High School when after they ended up in the Super Bowl.
Devils: Mom -> Islanders, Dad -> Rangers, Brother -> Flyers, everyone in my hometown -> Penguins ... yup this was probably the sport where I actually had an intense rivalry issue. I even had to look up the old Division name on Wiki just now ... wow, it was called the Patrick division? Guess I was too young to remember. Anyway, I was the only Devils fan and I loved it. Plus, Devils, c'mon ... awesome team name. Unfortunately I grew tired of hockey over time and stopped watching when they had the strike.
Bulls/Rockets - Yeah, so this was the sport where I wasn't the rebel. I loved watching the Bulls back in the Dream Team days. But though most people were primarily Jordan fans, I liked Pippen and my allegiance followed him to the Rockets. Then I lost interest after that season, so I guess I'm still a Rockets fan? Eh, I'll go back to hockey long before I go back to Basketball
Baseball - Boooooriiinnggg.
