I am on my first playthrough as well, here are my vague tips

never underestimate bitches with torches
keep your sheild up and eyes forward
talk to every NPC at least twice
if something is breathing on you don't let it
the trees are alive
stab every chest first
kill the dogs first
learn when it's safe to attack, don't get greedy
use some FFXI shit to aggro one at a time if you can
always carry a bow and arrows
kill the skinny one first

Is it normal that you can't handle more than one enemy at once? So far it's always been a death sentence. Usually if I get two I run away or try to make them separate.

depending on what it is, it is preferred to do one at a time. in fact, it always is preferable.

so i finally clear out the bone wheel skeletos out of the room and make my way left to a necromancer and than right behind me is a 9 foot tall enemy in black armor with a giant axe

killed the boss and got rite of kindling. walked around further and i found the tomb of giants. everything is dark in here
