Also, random blank grauberg map?
Is it though? You could say that about Mythic prereqs because at least those were relevant endgame and had rewards, but coalition assignments aren't and didn't. Anybody who actually had coalitions maxed before it was announced RUN/GEO were getting mythics was basically hedging that they'd be a prereq for something eventually, and I don't see how it's someone's fault they didn't do something when it had no reward. It's like if one of the mythic prereqs was raising a monster to last in Diablo Pit for 100 rounds.
When did Assaults and Nyzul v1 have relevant endgame rewards, other than like, Divisor ring and mythic WS for the few jobs that they were useful for? You could farm assault points for Salvage at the very lowest assault rank.
mythic prerequesit werend announced either, not many people had back then captain rank, all ToaU king titles, odin and salvage titles. ESPECIALLY ToaU kings titles and Odin title. People started bothering with captain rank after mythics were released and everyone saw the prerequesit.
This is also kinda the Devs way to give gratitude to the people that bothered with the expansion content they put out, aside from delve skirmish etc. that gave instant rewards.
It is the mythic equivalent,
assignments are the equivalent of assaults!
Captain itself wasn't relevant until Mythics, though, which is the point. And free runic portals? That was like 100 imperial standing, which is nothing. Having high ranks in coalitions is way more useful, with easy exp/bayld for a couple minutes of work.
Talking about mythic, assaults were possibly WORSE than the coalition ranks thing, as you literally couldn't even work on the 2nd half of the assaults until they came out with the mythic quest. You could do all of the coalition part beforehand, in comparison.
and i wouldnt be surprised if the new legendary weapons would require you to have all the new coal ranks. so i'd better start workign on those
1.None of those things have a mandatory 8 month wait attached, and most people had made significant progress into Captain, Odin, and Chariots even if they hadn't completed those.
2.If they'd announced those mythics a little earlier than a year into the expansion, you'd have a point. People only found out they were happening recently, and until the update a fair amount of people thought they would be literal mythics. So people could only reasonably be expected to start working on "mythic-esque" prereqs a couple months ago.
3.It's the dev's fault nobody did coalitions, they made the choice to design bayld as literally worthless. Furthermore, the fix for a broken job shouldn't be attached to a "thanks for playing neglected content".
If the total stone count needed is 200 ghastly -> 200 verdigris -> 200 wailing, that's trivial if you've kept up with RoE timed quests - you can convert 1 copper voucher into 1000 obsidian fragments and you can buy 200 of each for 70000 fragments. The only real timesink there would be getting one at a time from Ornery Dhole but they'll probably change it to let you buy stacks in another update if people complain enough on the official forums.

From my experience, significantly more people have gotten significant coalition progress than they had made nyzul or captain progress.
Still even back then, it wasn't 240days+, and we're talking about the 1% drop rate/30k exp/h merit camp era, yes it was harder to kill ToAU king and stuff than do coal assignment, I would have been ok if those ergon wpn were hard to get, not a 8-9months gate with easy to get stuff for anyone with enough gil.
You mean Xol?

It wasn't ~200 days like coalitions are, but it's still 160 days that required 3-6 people on every single step of the way, 50 of which couldn't be worked on at all before mythics were released. I'd much rather have the current system if I was starting from scratch back when both systems were released.
