Cant wait for online races to be foobar'd.
Can they tell me how many damn coins I have?
Reminder: today's the last day to get the free game with purchase of Mario Kart 8. Figure it was worth sending out a reminder for anyone who might still be holding out for a really good deal on MK8.
Would have been great a few weeks ago, but better than nothing:

Who am I kidding -- Rosalina's the best, not gonna stop using her!
Luigi is such a fucking boss that he gets to showboat in the best car. Suck it, everyone else.
Bug fixes come with the Benz DLCFor the first time ever, Nintendo’s Mario Kart series will be powered by some real-world horsepower. A software update on 27th August to Mario Kart 8 for Wii U will deliver a variety of new features for players, most notably the ability to download three free Mercedes-Benz cars that players can race in the game: the modern Mercedes-Benz GLA, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the legendary Silver Arrow of the 1930s.
The GLA model comes with special wheel options, while players can customise all three new karts with various wheels and gliders in the game. The new content arrives on the 22nd anniversary of the Japanese launch of the original Mario Kart game, Super Mario Kart, which launched on 27th August, 1992, for Super Nintendo.
Between 27th August and 23rd September, Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz will also host an online worldwide “Mercedes Cup” tournament. All competitors need is a Wii U console, Mario Kart 8, a broadband Internet connection and the Mercedes-Benz karts. Access to the “Mercedes Cup” in the game can be found in the online tournament section.
The Mario Kart 8 software update will also add a variety of new features designed to enhance the racing experience for everyone. These include:
• Drivers will now have the option to display the course map on the TV screen during races.
• Users will be able to check out statistics such as their total number of coins accumulated, win-loss record from online play, and their most frequently selected character overall.
• Users will be able to change options of others’ Mario Kart TV downloaded highlight reels, such as changing the focus to a new character or event.
• The order of the menu after each race will be changed to “ Next Race”, followed by “Watch Highlight Reel”.
• The game will remember the most recent customised kart settings that were selected, even if the Wii U system is powered down.
• Improvements to stability of connection in online play to enhance the user experience.
Very nice list.
Sooooo they didn't fix fire hopping? Lmao
There's not really anything to fix. It doesn't work on turns and its not ultra effective unless you're doing time trials or weaponless races.

The Mario Kart franchise has always been about racing with characters from the Mario universe — until now. With two upcoming downloadable content packs, Mario Kart 8 players will be able to add The Legend of Zelda's Link and the villager and Isabelle from Animal Crossing, according to a post from Nintendo's official UK store.
The first pack of the two adds Link, cat-suit Peach and tanooki-suit Mario, as well as four vehicles and eight tracks. It will be available in November of this year.
Pack 2, available in May 2015, adds Animal Crossing's Villager, Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the skeletal Dry Bowser, four vehicles and eight tracks.

Whoa. It begins!
Wow, that's pretty cool actually, and not a bad price. I'm looking forward to it.
16 new tracks total for a pretty low price, surprising.
I'm glad. Always felt like MK8 could've been better, content-wise. Having them expand beyond just Mario characters will allow for a lot more breathing room as well. I'd love to see this end up something like Smash.
So that's like what, $10 per pack? $10 for eight maps? I'm okay with that.
Yeah, I'm very, very okay with this, ESPECIALLY if they put in more classic tracks like the originals Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road.
Eh. Would depend on how much effort goes in to the tracks.
How will online work? Only get paired up with people who have the same maps? Or will maps be limited to who has what?
