I think it's more of a case of the writers for Arrow being shit.

Every single character comes across as angsty, whiny and generally unlikeable.
Flash is much better at not doing that to their characters.

Oliver's weakness is and seemingly will continue to be his arrogance. Sucks, but it kinda seems like the sort of drama they've locked themselves into by keeping the show more grounded than Flash.

I thought this ep was pretty solid. The thing about Arrow is.. everyone loved how dark it started, how Batman-ish he was, but then when he started to lighten up some ala actual Green Arrow, people started to be turned away by it.

Truthfully, Felicity + the Lances are the show's biggest weak points.. but eh. I don't think it's terrible.
