My biggest beef was it was too obvious with her getting a means for promotion and then making it the last night out as black canary. That's just as bad as the whole detective 3 days from retirement going out on one last assignment thing.

This was pretty much how I felt through most of the episode lol. Even having it spoiled for me, it was still very sad, especially when:

Lance showed up. He's now had to deal with losing both of his daughters throughout this show (even though one did eventually come back). With Earth-2 being a thing though, Laurel could always come back that way I guess. It does suck that they killed her off though since she was actually becoming a much better character this season. I just hope this ends all of the Felicity and Oliver drama and they either just end up together or end it for good.

Is also how I felt about the whole episode. Could see it coming from a mile away when she got offered another job.

But I felt nothing for her death. She is perfectly fine and then she ask Ollie to do something for her and she dies. Maybe they are writing her off for her to do something else / another show or movie / but left it open ended enough for her to come back down the road.

I hated Laurel ever since she started trying to be the Canary, but she actually got a lot better this season because Felicity became the genesis of stupidity in the show. I think had Laurel gone on to be DA without being part of the team she could have been a great character again. Problem for the show has been too many fighting members on the team.

I'd argue there actually hasn't been enough fighting against more than just grunts. Either way, just seems like the focus is less "heroes vs. villains" than it is cheesy romantic drama with masks that make life hard.

Season's established Ollie knows of a drug that can induce a death-like state since he used it on the russian chick in the flashback. Laural isn't dead, nor would I say it confirms the apparent grave occupant, either.
