This is a bunch of shows filming in BC right now. From what I'm hearing from my own production (which also got delayed), a lot of shows are using the same lab and it takes roughly up to 72 hours to get results back. But they got overwhelmed with tests which caused a log jam which caused a delay.

Productions are adjusting and waiting accordingly, but can't help but imagine they're losing tons of money each day they're delayed

This was expected. The CW wants to primarily target women who are watching the show for the male leads and relationship drama. Supernatural lacked the relationship angle but was a huge draw for women (some turned into toxic superfans) and felt that an all women driven show that lacks a male lead would drive away the audience. Same thing happened with the Wayward Sisters spin-off, and they canned that project in favor of vampire diaries legacies.
