I will admit I have paid for my first titan HM win. That being said, after paying for it, it confirmed that I was not the reason for constantly failing to titan. I learned that even prebuilt groups still requires some luck (probably what was discussed in the latest F.A.T.E. thingy lol). Anyway, I participated in the titan fight, not dieing once. The group i guess felt amazed by this and they gave me 150k back.
This.
Furthermore, the only chance people had to progress and learn was the first few days they were released.
Even when we pugged and 1 shot it every week, we had a special linkshell with a list of people that could. If you wern't in the linkshell no one would pug with you.
The first few months were prime for getting good parties, I didn't get my first full clear until the 3rd or 4th week.
Once you had it down there were tons of i90 req parties on reset day itching to get the fights done, luckily for me one of my i90s was SCH (if your only i90 was MNK or DRG you were in trouble).
I think it's taking a few weeks.
Since they launched for ps4, which means there are many new players for this games, aka lots of inexperienced players.
Once they get to practice enough, DF win shouldn't be hard.
Oh, btw, there will be more new blood for Yoshi from China soon ...
I paid for my titan hard for relic once and didn't need to pay for my next few titan hm wins, compare to titan ex, which i paid as well due to inconsistent lags that kills me every time at plumes.
Guess what, i won ifrit EX on my 2nd try in DF. Some time it's due to lag issue that people can't get through titan ex...
But yeah, if you can't even get through garuda ex, with a nice party... you need to think where you're heading in this game... because some coils are much harder than garuda ex.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys. I've actually been trying to beat Garuda EX for over a week now. I'm currently 0/8 in DF, and haven't been close to clearing on any of those attempts. I've only seen 1 group doing it in PF during that period, but my iLevel wasn't high enough to join when I saw it up. I've also tried making my own PFs, but they just get ignored. I feel desperate having to shout for help. I would actually consider moving to another server if I could find someone to help me clear. What server are you guys on?
The best thing you can do is, as others have said, make your own PFs and note who is skilled and who isn't as you continue to wipe. Friend the skilled people, they're only there because they need the kill too! Keep in contact with them and work to going from your first DF group as 1/8 + 7 randoms to 6/8 people you trust with 2 free variables that you can replace, or maybe even 8/8.
Every server is the exact same and despite what people post there is only so much free time, at some point you need to take the initiative and learn for yourself. If you rely on those who are already past it, you'll find yourself in similar situations with Ramuh and even Levi / Moogle. People tend to have less patience with stuff that is further out of their control.
I'm more or less in the same situation that OP and finally cleared Garuda Ex in a pt 5/8 party finder and rest from df (including the two tanks!). Solo df is really a gamble: I think you can get lucky and clear but most probably, you're going to see the 999 stupid things you wipe/fail to.
Last one before I cleared, wiped three times without even getting echo... Last pull, I was the only one on satin plume and drg popped lb1 on Garuda. Was so dumbfounded I missed the screenshot.
As others said before, keep trying in pf, it's doable. What you should especially look to is finding tanks. If tanks are reliable, healers and dps can learn the rest relatively easily esp. If ranged (use waymarks)
One thing I almost did and would have done if I couldn't get the clear was to learn to tank it (I have i85 pld but don't use it much compared to my BRD). Will probably do anyway.
Folks who say you're not helping yourself and trying to make you feel bad for considering buying a clear have a pretty limited thought pattern. I bought my first clear for titan hm on SCH back in the day and ended up solo healing it 2 fights later. Like it or not, those fights require a team and when you can't find a team you're shit out of luck.
I personally suggest NOT buying a clear, only because you're likely to be in the same boat for both Titan and Ifrit. It doesn't get easier to find primal groups right now (cept the new ones Levi and moogle).
If all else fails you could even try a PF classified, so to speak lol, saying you're looking for a FC that doesn't mind a new player, and you're trying to learn and clear the primals atm. Something like that.
But if you have enough to buy the clears then by all means, feel free. To be honest, every boss fight in game is its own beast, and not knowing those 3 fights isn't going to hurt you in later content at all (unless there's a reason to revisit them later). You're always having to learn the patterns of the latest fights...nothing is "preparing" you for future content except simple experience playing your job.
I see no reason not to buy them if you have the gil and are 100% confident its not you causing the issue. I bought 2 Titan EX wins. I had cleared it previously and both times it was right before reset and I had zero PUG luck that week, so it was buy the win or miss the tokens. I'm considering buying a couple moogle EX clears next, the fight is PUG brain damage and I want a couple ribbons. I've cleared it 10 ish times and have yet to get a drop those 10 kills probably came with 50 wipes and multiple horrible parties.
Gil is easy to make, finding 7 people with a brain isn't.
Titan EX is the biggest problem. Much like HM, people just can't stop panicking at landslides and/or weights and getting blown up, despite both being scripted fights. Also the fact that the fight causes very legitimate graphical problems for people's systems and isn't kind to those who have bad internet connections.
If nothing else, I'd say pay for Titan EX as a last resort as it will be a much larger annoyance than any other EX fight combined. You can keep throwing yourself at PF for the other EX; friend those who are much better at the mechanics than others, as Sath mentioned above. What it will come down to in any fight is culling the bad players and keeping the good.
Honestly, I have no issue with people buying wins, I sell wins every so often, it's a good source of income.
Most of the people I do sell runs to though end up living through the fights, and if they die it's due to something silly, so it's really up to you what you do, if your server is a non- legacy server i'd come to hyperion or another legacy servers, the quality of pug groups I tend to find are generally good, though there are obvious trolls or bads that you learn to identify over time.
I dont know what it is about the plumes but man my PC just hates them, I still do ok in there but every now and then I eat 4 plumes and die on the edge so far away from where plumes were. I have a decent PC too and can dodge most other stuff in the game at a decent rate. I really hate titan so much seems like my PC hates it more. No one wants to hear any kind of excuse either so I just sit there and cringe and wait for raise. Good times.
If its computer lag there are a few ways to make life easier for yourself and the party, dodge in a different direction then the rest of the group. Plumes are scripted so you can even leave the stack a second or two early, since you are going the opposite way no one should be effected if you place your plume off the stack.
If thats not working you just need to always stand away from the stack and make sure everyone is aware that you are doing that.
I don't see any problem with buying the wins. If you have the disposable income, but you're a casual that just wants the clear and/or you don't have a tight-knit group that can reliably take a shot at them (not talking about PF groups) then go for it.
My FC has been doing merc runs on all the EX fights and Turn 5 for just over a month and I'm usually the caller. We get people who will buy five T5 runs in a row looking for certain drops. We get people who want to string the primal EX clears. They greatly appreciate the assistance, and I'll see them around the server later & do other stuff. It's not just the money - it's building in-game relationships.
i'm having the same issue with the EX primals, but i refuse to pay for them as they're not top tier content anymore. save your gil.
