If you perform tests that aren't terrible (i.e., which use measuring tools that only correspond to LEDs/LCDs), plasmas also perform quickly. The fundamentally different technology means that too many people don't measure them accurately, including these gamers you're talking about, apparently.

Are Sony TVs at the top of the list? Yes. Are plasmas at the bottom, or even below the threshold you're mentioning? No. In fact, besides the Sony TVs, plenty of plasma televisions consistently rank highly, and their display quality is superior to that of current LCD/LED technologies on the market. OLED was going to be better, but OLED may never even come into existence.
