A bit late on this, but the best response we have is from the latest official live letter translation. Make of it what you like.

A: As I mentioned during the previous Letter from the Producer LIVE, they will not all be dropping at the same time. We'll add them gradually as we progress through patches. We're planning to have unidentified Allagan tomestones drop first, and the drop rate will be about 30%. We'll be making adjustments based on the clear rate of the Second Coil of Bahamut and everyone's average item level.

I couldn't give two shits about the tomes. Sigh.

Well, yes, he'd be telling you that your new melee DPS job uses the same gear as your old one, so (even if you plan on ditching, say, DRG) you would still use the same gear.

In any case, he later said that they haven't even decided yet which stats it will use, so it's all up in the air.

That'll be the same day they finally start making fights that don't get harder and/or become impossible if you push phases at the wrong time (Dear Square Enix, this should not be a thing) in a game where phases are dictated by boss HP% and HP% is not available without a 3rd party tool.

I'll second this. We're getting sick of T6 and T7 throwing out inconsistencies due to our DPS pushing things too quickly. Defeating things more quickly should be an incentive of gear progression. If you want my group to struggle more as it gears up, make separate difficulties. I assume brutal mode will cover some of this, so use Brutal to throw out the phase bullshit on regular fights.

The traits don't necessarily tell you anything for a job. SCH doesn't use INT, but has INT traits.

NIN and ROG are melee DPS, in what way would DEX benefit them?

Not separate, but something about SE just leaves a funny feeling on my neck that they'd either reward you with some paltry number (5, for example), per queue, or cap how much soldiery you can attain from it. I suppose now that Sold's been out for awhile they'd be a bit more lax, but I wonder about that if Frontlines had come out back in 2.2.

Just seems like its potentially an easy (albeit presumably plodding) way to acquire soldiery. Kinda how like CM runs were back in 2.0. with their respected tome.

Anyone getting their Novus maps every day already maxes Sol without even meaning to. I'm not sure why anyone would care either way.

An instance that is locked to being 30 minutes, no more, no less, doesn't seem "easy" to get tomes unless you're just trying to cheese it by entering and not doing anything of use.

I've been capping every week and I've still yet to buy everything I want for even one class. It probably hasn't helped that I have spent some on a dps accessory for my tank and I picked up a Book of Spades. But is that really different from many others? Those weapons are the real setback and could have easily been connected to a weekly similar to Primal Focus to get those tokens. That shit puts you back three weeks ;x

Of course, but this time through coil, for my group, it seems like gear has dropped more evenly. Maybe it's just luck or the devs actually distributed gear evenly. Last coil it seemed like they gave accessories a much higher drop rate. Anyone clearing T7-T8ish right now shouldn't waste Soldiery outside of weapons.

But with that example in particular, it's stupidly broken how uneven BiS is Solidery wise.
