http://gematsu.com/2015/08/scaleboun...first-gameplayThe action RPG follows a young longer named Drew, who is pulled into the strange and dangerous world of Draconis, where he is bonded to a fearsome and noble dragon named Thuban, the last of his kind. Thrown together by fate, the two lone heroes must defeat the powerful enemies that threaten Draconis, Earth, and a “vast” universe of parallel worlds.
You’ll work together with your dragon to defeat legions of enemy soldiers and “epic scale” beasts. An “accessible-yet-deep” combat system will allow you to fluidly chain your attacks with your dragon to create “devastating combos.”
Players will be able to customize their dragon with their favorite dragon shape, as well as evolve their unique abilities and attacks, and its appearance.
The game will also feature a four-player co-op mode.
Delayed to 2017http://platinumgames.com/2016/01/04/...alebound-team/As we enter into 2016, we want to provide you with an update on Scalebound, the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive action-RPG that lets you fight alongside a fearsome dragon named Thuban.
Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together. Scalebound is one of the biggest games Platinum Games has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale – all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.
In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.
We know you’re excited to see more and thank you for your patience. Scalebound is a truly special project that’s been several years in the making, and we are very proud and inspired by all the work our team has done so far.
We will be sharing more about our vision for Scalebound later this year and can’t wait to give you a closer look at the world of Draconis and the incredible creatures and experiences we’re building.
Was hoping this also had a Win10 announcement like ReCore did xD

Scalebound, the much-hyped Platinum-developed action game that was previously scheduled for Xbox One and PC, is in trouble and may be cancelled, according to several sources.
We expect the official announcement shortly. When reached by Kotaku today, Microsoft sent over a brief statement: “We’ll have more to share on ‘Scalebound’ soon.”
From what we hear, Scalebound, an ambitious game directed by iconic Twitter blocker and Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya, had been in development hell for a long time. Microsoft first announced the game nearly three years ago, during the Xbox press conference at E3 2014. It rose to the top of dozens of “Most Anticipated Games” lists but was delayed several times.
We hadn’t heard or seen anything of Scalebound in recent months, and it was curiously missing from an Xbox Wire post last week that talked about the future of Xbox One. Microsoft has also removed the official Scalebound page from the Xbox website.
One of the few X1 exclusives I wanted. meh.
More outlets jumping on to say their sources are saying its canceled too...
Microsoft confirmed: http://www.rpgsite.net/news/5181-mic...ebound-is-dead
Damn, first death of 2017 is hitting hard. DAMN YOU 2017. (idc really)
Wasn't really that invested in this game, because Platinum games are always very hit or miss with me. That said, I'm surprised it's been turfed just based on how far along in development it was.
Either way, I'd rather not have it, than have it be shit.
why would i ever buy an xbox again?
If you're asking that question you never really wanted one in the first place.
i got my xbox just quantum break, recore, and mainly this and now they cancel it…I bet its because everone threw a fit at the trailer from last E-3, idk why people were so disappointed with what was shown. It looked like a super exciting game to me :/
all I remember is the main character jumping around firing his bow and arrow at a huge ass monster and the game just.. looking a lot less epic than what I was hoping, but I don't really remember all of it so.
Looked kinda poop tho.
This was also one of the very few games upon reveal that made me consider a XB1, along with ReCore. Though upon the first real meaty trailer I did more wincing than cheering. Sad to see something potentially great get nixed (apparently) by MS again, like True Fantasy Live Online, but wonder if the general concept with a bit less DMC Dante 2edge4u wont end up somewhere else.
Wonder who soured first, MS or Platinum.
Apparently this one got turfed because Platinum was missing deadlines and Kariya (whatever the director's name is) has mental health issues were weren't helping things. So this one looks like it's on Platinum more than it's on Microsoft.
