Pretty interesting article from some indy dev about patches and the certification process. By "interesting", I mean "bureaucratic poppycock."

While not having support for every resolution is questionable regardless of the game, 1080p/16:9 is still very clearly the standard in gaming. 1440p/4k are only now gaining more mainstream traction due to the new GPUs coming out and ultra widescreen/curved displays are an enthusiast niche at the moment.
Game getting delayed for "21:9" support is maybe the worst excuse I've ever heard. So was his "sorry guys I was only just able to announce that now" even when it was updated on the site over a week ago that PC release was Aug 12th instead of the original Aug 9th date.
It's definitely not delayed because of 21:9. 10-20 year old games play at it fine (quake half life cs).
goddamn it... woke up thinking today was the 9th
I thought the delay was to finish PC Day 0 patch because they had to focus on PS4 first since they have to get through Sonys approval process first (and Sony funded a decent amount of it so that takes priority) and the few extra days gives them time to polish and push the PC patch?

Yeah any delay regarding aspect ratio only is just fluff it's not something worth delaying for or something that would require a delay, really there's a bunch of other things going on.
I'm sure it probably has nothing to do with early release PS4 exclusivity thanks to Sony...
The wait is going to kill me. A Saturday I have a wedding to go to from early in the morning to late at night.
Well I guess the pros of me going away weds is that I'll be back to get all your reactions before I end up buying the game..
That's fine, the aspect ratio stuff was the only thing I saw from Sean in his twitter thread when responding about the PC delay. I didn't see him comment anything about a day one patch still being worked on and other things. A delay this close to release is still pretty dumb imo though.
inb4 on the 11th they tweet out "pushed back to the 15th, need to really get that one last feature into the game!" and then 14th rolls around "Aww shoot, someone deleted the project and all back up data, we'll see you in 2017!"
Buy it. I'll have it in a few hours and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the shit out of it. It looks like if you want to go casual or hardcore, it's completely up to you. Like Minecraft or Terraria, where you can just futz around or mine the entire map. Also, first planet I settle WILL BE CALLED BlueGartr.
Literally 0 reason for me to buy it right now since I won't be able to play it till the 21st.
I ended up getting this, so I'll be able to jump in about 2 hours from now. I've watched some pieces of some streams but I really have no idea what I'm planning in game and many of them I'm not even sure what they're doing half the time. I guess that's the cool thing about having no idea where you're going to start out. May end up in a cool system that's worth spending a ton of time in, or may want to get the hell out of there and explore other areas.
