The game came out 3 years ago and is still $39.99. I found an amazon seller selling new copies for $22. Bought it there.

Coming to NA & EU Holiday 2015
Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy save the Lylat system in this new deep space dogfighting adventure. Using the Wii U GamePad controller and the TV together creates a unique interface that allows players to experience the game with two different viewpoints within the Arwing – aim and shoot enemies in one direction while flying in another. This frees up the TV for a more cinematic flight experience. Then, pilot the Arwing with its new Walker transformation, along with the new Gyrowing and the Landmaster Tank, to traverse interplanetary terrain.

    Features

    • Fan favorite characters return with new and well-known dialogue from Fox McCloud, Slippy, Peppy, Falco and more, which can sound like they’re talking in your ear like a from a headset with clever sound technology.
    • Players can intuitively pilot an Arwing by simply using both the right and left control sticks as a control stick to perform familiar flight maneuvers, such as the somersault, U-turn and a Barrel Roll.
    • Replay the same exotic planets with other vehicles and extra missions can be selected on top of going through the story.
    • Two different viewpoints, the traditional style of TV gameplay and the new unique cockpit view on the Wii U GamePad controller combines to create a unique interface to aim and shoot in one direction while flying in another. This frees up the TV for more cinematic moments in a brand-new all range mode.
    • Pilot the new and improved Arwing with its new Walker transformation and take control of a new Drone type plane, the Gyrowing. The Landmaster Tank returns, equipped with a new, limited flight form.
    • Developed in partnership with Platinum Games

I'm just happy this is looking to essentially be the official release of Star Fox 2.

Someone didn't play the SNES version I guess.

SNES was great. My friend and I spent days, weeks, months playing it.

Oh I played it, why I was saying official lol. I play it just to hear that dynamic transition from overworld/'inside' on Macbeth and Titania. Kind of why I hope to hear some of the SF2 tracks make a reappearance.

My bad then. I was thinking you had only played Star Fox 64 versus talking about the SNES Starfox 2.

It's getting harder to tell who knows what systems/games. My younger brother wasn't even born yet when Star Fox for SNES was released and doesn't know a lot of the SNES games. He's only 7 years younger than me too, almost 20, so it's not like he's a baby.

Oh well. Egg on my face.

This game looks like it is definitely borrowing a lot of things from Star Fox 2.
    -Transforming Vehicles
-Dog fights in Space with Star Wolf members
-Hard to tell from the demo but it might also have you move the Great Fox on a map and select battlefields to launch to similar to Star Fox 2 and somewhat in Star Fox: Assault on the DS. There's not much evidence of this beyond the first mission starting with Star Fox in space and flying down through the atmosphere to Corneria. Since the over-world map is never shown it's hard to say either way.

Other than that this game is basically going to be a reboot of the series (again) despite what Nintendo is trying to color it as. Re-imagining I think was the buzzword? I don't care either way, it looks like it's going to be the best Star Fox game since 64.

Looks like a hybrid of SF2 and SF64(which in and of itself borrowed heavily from SF2). I've always been a huge fan of the Star Fox series; let's just hope the story isn't an abomination like Command and Assault. lol

The lack of a direct is pretty telling. They have no idea who to make the face of the company with Iwata gone.

    ...sigh...

I will certainly be doing a barrel roll to the counter of my local game shop when this comes out.

They probably have the urn sitting on his desk and they go in and ask questions and let their thoughts be their answer.

    From nintendo's Facebook page

A Message from Mr. Miyamoto Regarding Star Fox Zero
I made a big decision last week.
We have been developing Star Fox Zero for Wii U with the aim of releasing it this year. Although we felt that the development had been progressing well, we now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes. While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing.
To the people looking forward to the launch of the game this holiday season, I am very sorry.
Star Fox Zero is going to bring new game play and experiences that take it far beyond the framework established by Star Fox 64. All the members of the development team are doing our best so that the final product will not betray your expectations. And the game will not be delayed for a very long time – we’re aiming to launch the game in Q1 2016. Please stay tuned for further announcements.

In other words, they realized this holiday season is fucking stacked and Star Fox had no hope of competing. Hopefully the extra time gives them a chance to polish the look of the game a bit and unfuck the ridiculous gamepad control scheme.

To be released April 22nd, Amiibo details
Finally, Star Fox Zero delivers a new beginning for the classic shooter series. With a unique control scheme that uses both the TV screen and the screen on the GamePad, players pilot multiple vehicles through intergalactic levels with Fox and his classic crew. The game launches exclusively for Wii U on April 22 and will feature amiibo compatibility. More details will be revealed at a later time.

Rumor: Star Fox Zero could be facing another delay
    http://nintendoinquirer.com/blog/201...another-delay/

The rumors, reported by Nintendo Life and substantiated by their contributor Liam Robertson, involve uncertainty from Nintendo of Europe regarding if the game will satisfactorily pass quality assurance testing.

“I heard the QA team at NOE is going through a bit of a nightmare to get [Star Fox Zero] ready,” said Robertson on his Twitter account. “Nobody knows for sure if it’ll pass QA with a thumbs up. If [it] doesn’t pass QA, they can make a recommendation to NCL to delay it. They have about 2 weeks to get it ready for [certification].”
