it's more toxic than other games because the playerbase is bigger, it's a numbers game, not a mystery. also, if i had to guess i'd say the game skews younger than most games too

the fact of the matter is, people are just as toxic in other games, you just don't see people getting banned for calling you an asshole in chat in normal games. it was just a line of thought worth following if riot really wanted to solve toxicity.

yep, and that's a serious problem with infrastructure especially when you have an international game, international players in NA and your main focus is an international tournament held once a year. not to mention your main platform for promoting e-sports is said tournament

I read the article. Line for line. Word for word. I stand by my statement. I don't care how stressed you are or how its a job to you and not the scrub trolling you in-game. You're getting paid, you signed the contract, you're held to a higher standard. If you no longer wish to be held to that standard, don't sign the contract.

As for singular people getting picked on by Riot to send a message to others, that's the world we live in. There isn't a single profession that doesn't do that on some level. Welcome to life. If you know the eyes are on you from the get-go, that's all the more reason to either shape up or ship out. If the job's too tough for him, he doesn't need the money from it.

Who cares? What are people gonna do, take my advice and LEAVE THE CONTRACT on the table? Walk away from the money and fame and thrill and challenge to be the best? I don't see anyone up and leaving to "send a message to Riot that this behavior is unacceptable". No. I see hand-wringing and a few blog posts.

Would I personally like to see some justice? Yes, but not in this particular area. Justice in the real world first. Starving kids in Africa and rapists and things. This? Nah. The dude acts like a shithead, gets bopped, gets reinstated, acts like a shithead again, and gets bopped again. There's a reoccurring trend there, and while its easy to blame the parent, shouldn't the kid take some personal responsibility? I don't think the correct response to this is "well look at what Jimmy's parents do to him whenever he does something wrong - nothing! You guys should do nothing when Billy gets into trouble, like them!"

you must have failed to understand that most of these people are thrust into this situation as kids, 17 year olds in odd situations. they have all the fame/fandom but not near the money as modern day superstars and name a single kid who got famous in the entertainment industry and hasn't had their millions of fuck-ups. (thoorin talks about this, haven't seen you mention it)

also if you think riot isn't doing this for the money you're hilarious. for some reason they think that people are quitting their game due to toxic players otherwise they wouldn't be going after this issue as hard as they are. and sure, maybe some people quit the game from the 1-30 leveling process (which i should mention is total ass) due to toxic people. and sure some people probably quit after getting ragged on in a ranked game after being lvl 30 for years and years but i doubt that out weighs the amount of people that stop buying RP because they get banned or chat restricted.

they are absolutely doing it for money and PR, but the company is ran by a bunch of children who have no experience and they don't look at any of the variables.

also the precedent being set is that they should be held to the same standard so i'm not sure what you meant by the higher standard thing.

and no idea where you're going with the starving kids in africa thing, spam and general shitposting aren't this forum. the only issue riot has been trying to tackle for the last few years is toxicity. a better leveling experience for new players? no. a tutorial so new players don't get raged at while leveling? no. replays, game balance, game consistency, less spaghetti, sandbox, scripting and botted lvl 30s? nah, all we care about is going against the curve of every game ever and attempting to play psychiatrist on a video game.
