James Neal to Nashville!!! Sound the Wulfy alarm!!

Just literally walked in the door from a work trip. Immediately popped on NBC and saw the trade pop up. Regardless of your feelings for Neal's "edgy" play, Poile got pretty great value here. I was shocked to hear that at least a 2nd or 3rd wasn't also involved.

That said, HFBoards going crazy about how the Pens got "fleeced." Hornqvist has hit 30 goals once and is good for mid-20s on one of the worst offensive teams in the league. I have no idea how the Pens lines shake out in the end, but he could do very well in PIT. Spaling is like my secret son; really love him. Pens had the worst depth in the NHL last year imo; their 4th line was like wtf. Spals can PK like a champ and scores some pretty clutch goals. IIRC he had 30+ pts last year; not bad.

No idea where Neal fits on the Perds right now. Could be the playmaking winger to save Wilson's career or provide veteran stability on a line with some solid young guys (Jarnkrok / Forsberg / Smith / etc.). We'll see; very excited though for a real top 6 forward! Probably our first since Kariya in 2007 haha.

Hornqvist had 53 points in 75ish games last year. Hard to tell if thats low and he'd do better with real offensive pieces around him or Tyler Kennedy type high (the year sid/geno were both out) cause no one else was around to get the offensive minutes. Spaling also had 35ish points in 75ish games last year. Combined despite playing 140-150 games they only had 40 PIMs to Neal's bazillion. Hornqvist signed for 4 more years.

Not an aberration for Hornqvist at all; guy is mega underrated. Spaling's points were career high iirc last year; expect 20-30 with great PK and defensive forward skills.
