Time to shine for Allies roll!
Crying OP over skillchains is a bit of an over reaction. If they had done anything less then skillchaining would still be a DPS loss and nobody would do it. They did exactly what was necessary to make skillchaining worthwhile, something people have been asking for since forever. It is actually really surprising to see SE understand how to fix something for a change. Once they fix the (almost certainly accidental) bonus damage to mobs with elemental weaknesses it'll be fine. Then they just need to add mages to the game.
There's a difference between making things useful and making things too strong. SCs don't need to do 10k~30k damage to be useful, and you don't need monster elemental weakness to do 10k~15k.
I think the real issue is sams bein able to spam self-SC almost non stop, is non-stop with koga.
Not sure what caused my random spikes though. My lights were doing 3-5k but i had one random 13k spike(fighting same mobs in a bcnm multiple times) only saw that spike once and it was off a 5k ws.
Given Adoulin isn't finished and the true, true endgame of the expansion isn't out just yet, I would only imagine such mobs will be balanced around these kind of SC values. So, older content subsequently being easier doesn't seem like such a big deal to me, especially if it translates to needing less bodies to get things done for said old(er) content.
Why is everyone crying for skillchain nerfs? Why not ask for mages and pet jobs to be buffed instead to compensate? Do people really *want* to be weaker?
If these new SC values are intended then I'm sure new content will have NMs with a flat -50% SC damage trait applied to all of them to compensate, either that or they'll all have 2+ mil HP.
Our token BLM in ls is highly competitive in damage, the skillchain shit is totally fine. Just assume we're going to be getting much harder content in the future. We're due for an ilvl update and you people are crazy if you don't think all of this ease of content isn't preparing for one.
The skillchain buff is seeing a huge use for bringing actual mages to content, since you can just use 1 or 2 DD and make heavy use of magic bursts from very good mages. I'm constantly doing multi step double lights on sam and our mythic BLM is able to parse as high or ahead of me outside of skillchain damage. You people screaming for nerfs are the worst kinds of people. I fully expect an ilvl increase before we see empyrean armor.
So bring in a mythic BLM and discount the skillchain damage that's causing the issue to begin with. I'll get right on that. I'll be perfectly happy not being the "worst kind of person" if they actually add content that takes advantage of the ludicrous across-the-board damage buffs. Until that day (if it ever comes, which again, I doubt) it's a needless, overkill change that has caused everything to become so laughably easy that it's almost pointless to do it at all. Personally it seems more like they're trying to make every facet of the game accessible to the very lowest denominator, not opening the gate to an iLvl increase. We'll see in the coming months.
inb4 "but you wanted accessibility!" well no shit, but there's a difference between making things accessible and handing everything to everyone on a silver platter. You'd have to try really hard to fail at any event in the game at the moment.
On another note, lowering a mob's resistance with threnody does not raise skillchain damage, as I thought it might. Thunder elementals in sky took +50% damage from Darkness both with and without Earth Threnody.
it doesn't seem to be tied to actual elemental resistance as much as species specific magic resistance
I would just stop the preemptive freakouts until we actually see what our next batch of fresh content is. (Not this update, unless they throw in a wildcard)
It's already been said that the level cap will continue to raise, and they would ease access of content when harder stuff was due to come out.
As I said, we'll see. This just feels less like "ease" and more like "smash everything with a 16 ton brick and see what's left after"
Fair enough.
I was not able to enter Arrapago Remnants II today for a second time. Did my first time this morning and when I try to enter I received this message:
"You can only participate once per Earth day. Please try again later."
People on my LS say that restriction is only for this particular area, but I did not see anything regarding this on the update notes. Ninja patch?
It's a big buff, but it mostly benefits those that could already clear the content, or those that would have cleared it anyway given enough time to practice. People with top tier DDs and healers can clear stuff faster and with fewer people, but people who were simply unable to clear stuff like delve v2 and VD battlefields generally lost because they get wiped out, not because they time out (with an exception to ranger strats, but Coronach and Namas didn't get buffed very much). The damage might allow them to wipe one more time and still have time to win, but if they can't survive, this damage bonus isn't going to help all that much.
