100 years ago I was like the best NA RDM and played all day every day and I have very fond memories of FF11
Now I am a grown up old guy at the ripe old age of 28 years old (soon to be 29) and lately I have been disillusioned about video games. I just don't find anything interesting enough to keep playing for more than ~30 hours and usually stop after ~1 month. I also have all kinds of responsibilities now, like being an adult, and not playing games all day, and having a job, and getting older.
I have been reminiscing about ff11 with an IRL friend who I recently found out also played back in the day, and we mused about giving it another run around for old times sake, in between complaining about our joints and how young whipper snappers nowadays can't stop tweeting and get jobs.
I read the "Returning to vanadiel" wiki guide and other posts comparing 11 and 14. My conclusion so far:
- 11 basically has cheats now and all challenges will seem meaningless knowing I could just get lv99 in a few days and then crush anything.
- 14 is easymode made for 12 year olds on ps4s who would rage quit if someone tried to coordinate a skillchain/magic burst
- private (free) servers for 11 froze time before the cheats, but might not be for someone with only a couple hours a week to play
- life is short
I would like to be convinced with strong argumentation that I should (1) do something or (2) not do something, for various values of "something"
