I know you're joking but the Heat needed him to opt out since he would have been earning way more than they would have liked to pay.

Is there any chance Wade doesn't get re-signed because he asks for too much in a new contract? If he wants another 4-year deal, even at $15 mil, that's a huge liability if his knees can't hold up for an entire season anymore.

I don't think so either. As most people have speculated, it seems they are opting out to lower cap space to get key players, but I can see this backfiring.
